...would something like that be possible? People say that time flows differently here, and that it returns everyone to the point that they left, but people arrive from different time periods in the same world quite often. But for time to continue on, it would not imply that everyone is returned to their own world at some point?

There are plenty here who are dead, aren't there? It doesn't sound as simple as that.

The dead cannot be kept in a single place for very long. Whether they returned to their world at some point or not, the castle would need to loosen it's hold on them eventually. I do not believe it would have a choice in the matter.

Saying your name and claiming you won't harm anyone doesn't exactly ensure that you're trustworthy.
