There is ... a malady, a sickness, out past the Dead Zone, that seems to affect redheads more keenly. There is a possibility it may have spread to those of us who went on the expedition, but we're waiting to see clearer results.

If I hear any news about it, I shall let you know ... but thank you very much for volunteering. Might I ask your name?

Magda.

I don't think I can get sick anymore.

I'm the Doctor, Magda, it's a pleasure to meet you. ... Do you mind my asking why not?

Because who ever heard of a sick vampire, honestly?

.... Vampire.

Is that a problem?

Not a problem so much as an improbability, where I'm from. You see, vampirism isn't scientifically feasible, and ... well ...

It doesn't mean you AREN'T, I'm hardly one to argue with a person's own personal decision as to who they are, that would go straight against believing in free will and individuality. It's just that, well.

... It's, ah ...

... it's a bit of a big bite to swallow.

And we are in Paradisa... is it that much of a shock?

[doesn't quite see what's so--] ... Oh. That was rather unintentional on my part, Rin, I'm terribly sorry. But, ah ... it isn't so much a shock as something I'm used to thinking of as physically impossible.

[he still thinks the ghosts are energy projections of whatever mass consciousness runs the castle, but he always seems to have a hard time putting words to the theory. damn castle!]

Yeah... well, I dunno. I think of a lot of the stuff I see in Paradisa as physically impossible, or I would've, if I hadn't seen it in practice. Maybe it's perspective...

I should think perspective has quite a lot to do with it. Every time I go to another world on the TARDIS, there's always at least ONE person who has to tell me something I've seen isn't possible ... so it amuses me greatly when I find myself in similar situations.

Paradisa is an eye-opener for all of us, I guess. Is it weird that vampires seem more plausible to me than some of this technology stuff?

Not at all ... you can never say what one person will find startling, compared to another.

Speaking of technology, I hear GLaDOS is making robots for your outpost...?

Oh, that's right! She wanted to get involved, and I figured there was space for everybody.

Thank you for that. I'm glad you've given her something to occupy her mind, she needs it. ... Though, I did ask her if I could examine the robots before they're deployed. I ... want to trust her, but some of the things I've read or heard tell me we should exercise extreme caution.
