Wouldn't that all be recent events...? I was pretty sure this region was named as such due to Spanish influence and explorers.

Though, from what I know of that, I suppose expecting anything from so long ago is a silly notion....

I'm just saying the reason for the name could be rooted in the past. Perhaps there was a time when angels were here? Morality of the city is a completely different thing.
