[ the journals picks up the sound of a pen rolling off the desk, then a somewhat sleepy murmur. everything is dictated ]

Hey, how neat! You guys redecorated while I was sleeping! I really like this desk, the chair is a lot more comfortable than the old one! But how did you switch them out while I was slee-- resting my eyes? I guess I really do have a lot to learn, huh?
You know, it's kinda cold--
[ oh, hey. someone just took a gander out the window. well, this certainly changes things. he's quiet for a moment then, as if he's expecting to be scolded, he begins sheepishly ]
