I would easily drop all of my worldy possessions (CDs, DVDs, games, car, books, etc.) in order to serve the Lord. But the Bible doesn't say to ignore all worldy possession, but rather not to lose sight of our true focus in life: serving God. Do not be overcome with worly possessions, do not forget your purpose.

In relationships, God comes first. But He has seen our entire life before we were even conceived in His eye. He knows the relationships we will make and has chosen for us to meet the people we will meet in order to help us grow into the person he intends. He presents us with challenges, joys, hardships, and triumphs in order for us to grow. They are his tools and are in no way meaningless.

Instead of being selfish in relationships with friends or significant others, you should rather be asking "How is this relationship glorifying God?" Part of my selfcare was reassuring myself I have my eyes on the right focus: God. There was no contradiction. There is no need for me to make others happy. We feel as we do in relationships and we feel what is appropriate because God intends it. I make myself happy by growing closer in my walk with God. He is revealing His great plan to me and showing the importance of my life to this world. I am called to serve Him and I need to listen to his words. My time in fellowship, devotion to His words, reading the Bible, discussing my faith... these are all steps bringing me closer in my faith.

Rather than seeing me as a walking contradiction, let down your defenses and see the truth in my eyes. Do not doubt my reasons or my faith. The relationships I'm building are rooted deeply in His word and are stronger than any relationships I've ever had. He is helping me see the world through different eyes and appreciate all of the good around me.

I have already begun making changes in my life to serve God. You've addressed a number of them already and may not have realized you brought them up, but hopefully this reply has shown some light on the topic. As with anyone who chooses to lead a more Christ-centered life, I spend more time in prayer, worship, and fellowship. I look to God for answers to the challenges He places before me. I ask, "Does this decision glorify Him?" I speak about my faith without fear, shame, or reservation because I am so thankful for the relationship I have with God and the peace of mind my faith brings me.

I hope this has been some help to you.
