What a great time we had this weekend! From 11:30 Friday morning until 11:00 Friday night, I was sharing my good news about my soon-to-be-offered contract with Sight & Sound Theatres in PA. It was so good to finally share some really GOOD news about my career, my calling, my vocation, my ministry, my service with family and friends. So many people have loved us and prayed so hard and so long for our fulfillment in life, and it was such a privilege to share laughter and hugs and tears with as many as possible in that 11 1/2 hours! I went to bed full of life Friday night.
The Beautiful One was on a Mary Kay retreat from after school Friday until Saturday late afternoon, so I had my Saturday uninterrupted by human interaction. The big project for the day turned out being ripping out my neighbor's forsythia bush. It was beyond trimming and had to be cut WAY back -- a good two/two-and-a-half hour project in itself so I didn't get to mow the lawns, which remains on my docket for today before the rain comes. Saturday night was a wonderful evening as we attended a medieval fall party at the Stone House on the Maumee River courtesy of and by invitation of
zaapiel and Sir James' lovely family. What a delightful evening! Lovely hors d'oerves. Soups in bread bowls and sausages by Squire Paul. Chocolate expresso cookies by
seph_ski that'll make your head spin. A sip of what was purported to be the best Scotch in Scotland (yuch! why drink that stuff?!? Call me unsophisticated, but that one sip cured me of any curiosity I have harbored about liquor for a long time.) But did I mention the friendship and fun? The Beautiful One eventually arrived from Fort Wayne, and we had a lovely evening with the likes of
seph_ski and
legi0n (men in tights, men in kilts -- what's the difference),
indigokittish and of course
zaapiel.
felicity_chan made the most spectacular entrance of the evening with
acoma1,
fancy1 and her fiance dressed as none other than The Rogue Blades themselves.
ekahler and
reynai and NaNoWriMo/NWOWF friend Garry were there as well, and we got to meet and be entertained by
kiwi_juggler's juggling as well. The Rogue Blades and an entire audience of their groupies presented their final show of the ren faire season to great delight and laughter; I don't believe The Beautiful One has laughed that hard in a long time! It was just a great, great evening!
Yesterday morning, I could barely contain myself before church. I was antsier than usual as Sandy got ready and finally said, "We've got to hurry!!!" What a joy it was to go to church and be able to share the good news of Sight & Sound with everyone there! So much laughter and hugs and tears and joy -- it was great! And the sermon "just happened" to be on "Ask, Seek and Knock." I felt like a walking, living, breathing illustration all morning! Keep believing! Keep persevering! Keep praying! Our Father God in heaven loves us and wants the best for all of us! Hallelujah!
Sandy and I spent the afternoon resting, and then I spent the evening with the WHS speech team at the local corn maze. We had a great time, with a bonfire complete with s'mores and sharing about what has brought all of us to the speech team. It was a good time.
Today, a new chapter begins as I begin focusing my eyes on the next leg of the Hike. I can't wait! This will be the most exciting part yet. I hope everyone's day is as great as mine's going to be!
