The Olympics have started. Which means my vacation has started. And yet I haven't continued with my previous post, or done the housework I would have liked to complete beforehand.
And in all this craziness, guess who decided to contact me.
The guy with the worst timing ever. As usual. MNF.
He e-mailed me shortly after I mentioned on FB that I was adjusting to Beijing time. I was surprised because he very, very rarely reacts to my stuff. One of the very few times when he did was during the Pyeongchang Olympics, when he first reacted, then IMed me, then spontaneously called. Where I found out that he was about to move to China for work.
So I kinda figured that me mentioning China and the Winter Olympics being on again just brought back memories and he remembered that we've been out of touch. I figured that may have been enhanced by the fact that his sister is involved with the Olympics this year, too.
I figured it all wrong. LOL
And I should have known better. Why? Because most of the times when he reached out at the most impossible of times it was because of a manuscript. It was because he needed my help.
This is seriously amusing because his initial e-mail was rather short, I replied with a ton of questions (none of which he answered), told him that nothing much had changed in my life since we've last had contact (his repsonse being, "Wow, that sounds thrilling" and sounding like he meant it?), after which he simply asked for a bunch of apps through which he might call me. Dude, oldschool me. I don't do that kind of stuff, and I was too annoyed at him for being too lazy to write a proper reply that I just sent a real short reply in which I let him know that I can't offer him any of those options.
OK, and tonight it got really amusing. He took the time to write a longer reply. Most of that reply was him explaining to me that he started standup comedy (seriously?! LOL). His topic of choice is something I won't spell out in detail out of fear of him finding this (LOL), but it has to do with being a bad lover. (At this point I can only guess he must have had autobiographical experience. LOL) He mentioned he's preparing for a slightly longer show and is lacking "in certain depth of theory."
I can't even. What is that even supposed to mean?! LOL
The funniest part is that he asked me if he could send me his lengthy manuscript to help him make a selection and give honest feedback.
I have no clue what to expect. This is all so absurd and so ridiculous. Since when am I an expert in comedy, in people in China listening to comedy, in the topic he's making fun of, or in the depth of theory he mentioned?
To be honest, I'll have the Olympics to focus on now, and a life to get in order. Yet I will probably ask him to send it over if he can live with not receiving feedback for another few weeks, because that's just how I tick. But I won't reply until after the figure skating team event is over tomorrow. I have way too many other things to take care of now.
That dude ... Gosh. (It's such a shame that his attention still gets me excited, though.)
