Doodle: 2016 Doodle Fruit Games Day 11
I guess today includes a lot more time to breathe than yesterday. Besides that nerve-wracking hockey match, the table-tennis team event also had me on pins and needles and I was soooo proud when our ladies fought for every point until they finally, finally made the gold medal match. :0) Too bad the men couldn't repeat that today.
I wonder why the timing sucks so much. At times there are 3 or 4 events happening simultaneously that I'd all like to follow. If it weren't for athletics tonight (I hope we'll get to see lots of pole vault here despite the fact that none of the Germans made it) and for keeping my current rhythm, I could have gone to sleep an hour ago. Most of the night will be team matches of other countries. Not too interested.
Besides the German medals (dressage and wrestling) and the wins of our handball and hockey teams, my highlight today was the Dutch girl on the balance beam. So elegant, so secure.
Speaking of gymnastics, yesterday's tearjerker was Brazil's silver and bronze medal for the floor exercise. They were so, so extremely overwhelmed. I also had a massive need for Kleenex earlier that day when I heard the story about one of Brazil's show jumpers that nearly died in a car crash because the driver of the horse transporter had fallen asleep. Such a sad story. Other horses died. I instantly wanted that team to do well. (They did.)
Note to self: before I go to sleep tonight (for real), I should check the current TV schedule. I got up half an hour too early today because I didn't know the coverage started later. No event had started yet, and I could have used that extra sleep (I usually wake up several times these days and was super tired when I got up). Instead, I worked. And I'll only mention in a few words that I was super pissed when our product owner e-mailed me that I should give him a call ASAP. Ugh. I ended up doing something that I would have expected Brian to take care of during my vacation. If he hadn't taken off to Sweden, that is. :0\
