Public Service Announcement:
I can still juggle.
^^ That amuses me. The summer before last, a performer and I would juggle together at a local amusement park. He was a clown for a Cirque du Soleil knock-off and he juggled. He'd teach some kids to juggle-- or just to toss one ball between their hands. One day I went up and stood in the group. He gave the ball to me, and I threw it and caught it. He gave me a second, I managed to do both despite not having practiced in a bit. He went to the next kid, telling me to "hold on" or something, we'd both laughed slightly. The other children tried, failed a few times, then eventually left laughing, et cetera.
So juggler guy gave me three of them. I juggled. He seemed impressed. He had rough French-accented English-- which was more that some of the performers could speak-- so he'd explain various things to me, and I'd try them. He tried to teach me a trick or too, as I wasn't that skilled with juggling aside from the sheer ability to. I failed at a couple of them, almost got a few, you know how things go. He taught me how to juggle a different way-- not circle juggling, but like actual juggling. Instead of throwing the balls to the inside of the incoming ball, you throw the next ball to the outside. I still haven't perfected it, but I went home that night and practiced it enough so that the next time I went, I was able to slightly do it, which the guy seemed happy with.
He taught me how to two person juggle. I've tried to teach a couple people, but they always get confused and all "what are you doing?!"
I'd juggle, and he'd take a ball out of the air as I threw it. I got a bit confused, but I liked the guy and I liked learning from him, so I listened. He told me to keep going. So he'd take the ball out of the air, then the next one, and finally I'd toss him the third and he'd start juggling with them. I don't want to say we got it the very first try, but he was a good teacher and I picked up quick.
So we went back and forth like this for a bit, him stealing, me stealing. He picked up a lot of slack, I know my tosses are no where near perfect, and I'd mumble apologies that he'd simply laugh at and reassure me. And we'd make the steals more frequent, until we were juggling with two people. It was really neat because I almost didn't realize what we were doing, but he'd planned it right. And it just fell into place. I knew where to toss the balls, and when I reached out, he'd throw it perfectly so I could catch it. I know, you all must think I'm crazy for gushing about this, but it was really a neat experience. I haven't juggled with another person like that since, I'm thinking of trying to teach the boyfriend as he can already juggle on his own.
So that's it. I just found my juggling balls when I was cleaning up my room, and I was like hey! let's try. And I can juggle by myself. It's fun. As for the French guy, he didn't come back the next year, nor this year.
...my dirty mind has looked back on this and decided that if you think of juggling as some sort of funny sexual innuendo, most of this entry is horribly amusing and awkward. "I haven't juggled with another person like that since, I'm thinking of trying to teach the boyfriend to do that."
I am ashamed of myself, my brief juggling affair with a mysterious Frenchman. Haha, but it's funny.
