NJ Travelogue, day four

Sep 20, 2009 12:20

i was too tired to type up babble last night, so i'm doing it now. yesterday we went to the New York Renaissance Festival in Sterling Forest, NY, only a few miles from where i once lived in Ringwood, NJ.

the Faire was GREAT. we wandered, and saw a female vocal group (the Sirens i think they were called) and i picked up souvenirs for people back home and i got an underbust corset and a bunch of socks for myself. my mom bought a gorgeous blown glass pitcher and a TON of icicles. there's a new glassblower, and he ROCKS. he does Roman, Medieval, Renaissance, and Anything-Goes demonstrations throughout the day. he is SO much better than the woman they had come in after David and Diane left. we saw the remaining two members of the altaband performing on French and Spanish bagpipes, and watched a man play an enormous set of bells like a piano. he played the entirety of Tubular Bells! and a couple of other selections. (fyi, Tubular Bells is about 21 minutes long all by itself.)

it really was an outstanding day, and i'm glad i got to go to the Faire again. if there's one thing i've missed from the East Cost living out West (besides my parents) it's the NY RenFaire.
