The Burnsville PD, serving and protecting

Nov 27, 2005 08:37

I had my first run in with the Burnsville PD last night. Don't worry, I didnt do anything wrong. It started about 9:15 when I was working. Megan, one of the managers, came up to me and said that they were checking if people wanted to get out of there early at 10 rather than 11. I told her that it didn't matter to me. So like the good employee I am, I kept on working until about 10:15, when suddenly all of the lights turned off. I started walking around trying to find someone. I went over the store and found nobody. I then called Katie to let her know what was happening. As I was on the phone with her, the lights came back on. I hoped that it was someone coming back to the store, but it was actually that the motion detectors had finally detected me and the alarm had gone off. I was worried that I was going to have to spend the whole night there if I couldn't get ahold of anybody. I was all over the store trying to find a phone number that I could call, then I went back to my department and looked through some papers. We have a little 3 ring binder with business cards of different appliance stuff. My department head is also an appliance repairman, so I hoped that he would have put one of his own cards in there. Thankfully he did. I called his cell number that was listed on there, but got no answer. I then decided to call his home number, and his wife answered. She said that he was in bed, but then I told her that it was an emergency, and she put him on the phone. I told him the story and he told me that he would call some people, and not to go anywhere. So I talked to Katie some more and then Virgil called me back. He said that he got ahold of Eric, on of the managers, and that he would be coming. I grabbed all my stuff and went to the front of the store to wait for him. As I was waiting up front, I decided to text lolita_ange and let her in on my dilema. A few seconds later, my phone rang and it was her calling me. Her first words were," Oh my God, are you ok?" I told her that I was and then we chatted for a few minutes until the Burnsville PD showed up, 30 minutes after the alarm had gone off. There was 2 cop cars. The cop was out front trying to talk to me through the double door entryway. He started making motions for me to unlock the door so he could get in. If I had a key I wouldn't be in that situation. He finally realized that I didn't have one. He then started asking how I got inside. I didn't feel like trying to explain it using hand and body motions, so I told he to wait there and I ran and got a piece of paper and a pen. Here is my first note to him. I almost misspelled work.

After he read my sign, he make a gesture like a phone and then I made this sign on the back of the other one.

After he read that one, he went over to the other cop car and they drove away. Maybe about 2 minutes later, Eric pulled up and unlocked the doors and let me out. He came up to me and said," I am so so sorry!" I just laughed and said that it was no big deal. I think that it was pretty funny and that I hope that nobody will get into trouble for it. He told me that nobody would. When I got back to the apartment, my roomate told me that I should sue Home Depot. I told him no. Now you know the tale of the night that I got locked in Home Depot.
