In which the free market fails

The most famous of the Cheezburger blogs is, I assume, still I can has cheezburger. But while lolcats can be funny, I've never liked them enough to warrant visiting that site regularly.

A related Cheezburger blog that I did regularly go to was Acting Like Animals, which has since been absorbed into Daily Squee. Now I've picked an inopportune time to write this, since the most recent entry is full of kittens. But in general, Squee is much more boring than Acting Like Animals. If you go through the entries and pick out the ones with "Acting Like Animals" in the title, you'll note* that this annoyingly small subset is far more interesting than the usual baby-animal fare. But these entries don't get tagged! I'm not going to visit Squee every day and scroll for ages trying to find a good animal photo.

*All of this is objective fact, by the way.

Even worse is that EpicWinFTW now redirects to The Daily What. Epic Win had a "really really good" to "meh" (ie, lego) ratio of about 1:1. As far as I can tell, the ratio for the Daily What is somewhere around zero.

Even Chris Berg would agree that overall social welfare would be increased by the government stepping in here.
