Some people seem happier than others about this event.

Personally I don't think it's a terribly far-fetched possibility that this was faked, like our deaths for the last event, just to get a rise out of the community.

Well it's always good to talk about things - it's never good to let something fester, but reiterating the same thing again and again isn't healthy either.
