back from being on my southern tour

alright. time to update. just walked in the door from nearly a week down south. ill break it down by city.

Charlotte, NC: Drove up from Atlanta on Thursday morning. Sadly, I wasn't there too long, but its a really pretty city. I've discovered that many of the cities down south don't feel the need to do away with all the vegetation in the city in an effort to make the city larger. Granted, many of the cities down there are smaller, but you also don't feel like you'll never see a tree again. Every street felt lush and full of life. It was nice. We did a demo for the firm Jenkins Peer Architects. They've done mostly schools, but they're getting into residential now. Big group of really funny guys. Awesome models in their conference room.

Columbia, SC: It's definitely a smaller city, but it's actually pretty nice too. We had an AIA trade show to do there on Thursday and Friday. So after the demo we drove down here too. Thankfully the drive wasn't too long and we (Corina and I) got to go with some really fun people. Everyone in the south is 10 times nicer than they are up here. And everything is cheaper too. I've actually started considering moving down there after school (and a stay in Chicago). One of the women I was with down there (she works with Graphisoft) actually offered to help me find a job and set me up down there after school if I was interested. I have to say it would be pretty sweet. But back to Columbia. The trade show was ok. Kind of boring, but we got a handful of really good leads for new customers. The fun part was friday evening when we all got shitfaced while we took the booth apart and packed up. I made friends with the bartender at the show and he proceeded to get me wasted on Seabreezes. Good time.

Atlanta, GA: Atlanta....sooooo nice. We stayed in the penthouse (on the 19th floor) at the Midtown Marriot. We had a really gorgeous suite with an awesome view. The hotel was really nice. Great breakfast buffet. Beautiful indoor/outdoor (yes it went through the wall) pool. I went to the High Museum of Art and saw some really cool stuff. We ate on the patio at Houlihan's and at the South City Kitchen. If you ever go to the ATL, please go to South City Kitchen. The food is out of this world (try the Fried Green Tomatoes, and the Buttermilk Fried Chicken). The drinks are pretty killer too....strong, just to warn you. Anywhere on Peachtree Street, Cresent Street, or Virginia Highlands is a good time. I really wish I could have had more time to be down there. It's really a lovely city. I could honestly see myself there.

So that's all I guess.. I suppose I should go and unpack now. Bye!
