College is a new chapter in life for many. It is a start where you meet your education and your friends. But is there a chance to meet the one you would want forever? Kim Jaejoong has worked hard all his life to be accepted to Montessori University. Jung Yunho has suffered loss in his life as he registers in the same school. The two different lives interact as they paired together in a dorm. Will they remain strangers in their own living space or can an unexpected twist bring the two lives together?

The student eyed Junsu strangely. His stare a mixture of annoyance and appreciation. Although he knew that his music was enchanting, he preferred to play his private pieces away from people’s ears.

The student cleared his throat and proceeded to speak, «How did you get in here?»

«Oh. I’m sorry. I didn’t know that people weren’t allowed in here. I just came to examine…» Junsu’s tone lowered as he felt the extreme gaze given by him by the mysterious stranger.

The student stood up, pushed his chair back, and headed straight to the door. Junsu thought he was going to be pushed out, and so he turned to walk out.

A hand held him in place by his shoulder. He turned to see the student close the door. «I didn’t ask you to leave did I?»

It was now Junsu’s turn to stare at the student. He was a completely different character than he thought. As the student sat back down on the pianist’s chair, Junsu wandered around the room.

He noticed the blank whiteboard over the west wall and a series of school desks directly in front of it. Between the whiteboard and the school desks placed a main desk, which Junsu presumed to be the teacher’s desk.

He circled the room more and scanned the shelves. Music scales, sheets, and books were neatly stacked in an orderly fashion. Piano: Music of the Soul, Music of Today, History of Musicians, and Guide to Composition were just a few of the titles that can be found within the shelves.

The student’s eyes were following Junsu as he walked around the room. ‘Is it his first time in a classroom?’ As he continued to watch Junsu, the student questioned himself as to why he let the boy stay. ‘I must want attention.’ He grinned at his conceited thought.

He turned his back from Junsu and settled his hands on top of the keys. He breathed in slowly and began playing a tune.

Junsu’s head slowly turned to the direction of the marvelous tune. He found himself unknowingly heading to that direction. He snapped back to reality when he finally reached the piano. Looking at the pianist, he noticed that his eyes were closed, full of concentration. Junsu moved back and sat at one of the desks and listened to the song more.

The different notes were being weaved by an artisan of music. He had never heard such a sorrowful music played in front of him. His mind, body, and heart swayed in a sea of harmony, taking in the different emotions that resonated from the tune.

Stress and worries that clouded Junsu were cleansed away by the music. His eyes began to close, continually embracing the melodious tune. A tear fell from Junsu’s eyes and the piano ceased playing. He opened them back up only to find a hand with a small, white handkerchief.

«Here.» the student said with a refined, yet dignified voice.

«Thank you…» Junsu reddened. He thought of how stupid he must have looked crying in front of the student. Guys shouldn’t cry…right?

The student must have read Junsu’s mind for he said, «It’s ok to cry. It’s a humans way of washing out our regrets and pains.»

Junsu wiped his eyes, thanking the student once again for the handkerchief. He breathed in and stood up. «I think it’s time for me to go walk around some more.»

«Are you new here?» the student asked, his left eyebrow rose in curiosity.

Junsu smiled, «Yeah. I am just getting the feel of the whole campus before school begins.»

«Ah. First year student.» the student held his chin and thought for a few moments. «I guess I will be seeing you, well I might.»

Junsu’s own eyebrow rose in interest, «What do you mean?»

Seemingly avoiding the question, the student answered «Nothing.»

«Oh.. well. Bye.» Junsu walked out of the room. He reached the end of the hallway before he noticed what was on his right hand. He was still clutching the handkerchief that was given to him by the mysterious stranger. He thought for a while, before turning back to walk to the classroom.

«Oh, I forgot to…» Junsu stared at an empty room. He looked at the piano, but no one was there. ‘I didn’t even ask for his name…’

Jaejoong stretched and yawned, his eyes groggily opened. He turned and tapped on his bedside alarm clock. The constant ringing died away and an echoing silence filled the room once again. The silence was short lived as Yunho’s snores pierced through the veil of peacefulness.

Jaejoong jumped a bit, grinning as he realized it was only Yunho. ‘How can someone not wake up through my alarm?’ Jaejoong kept staring at Yunho’s face. He looked younger now that his face was lost in an ocean of dreams. His shallow breathing almost like a rhythm and his snores like bass.

He looked back at his clock and noticed 5 minutes have passed. ‘Was…was…I staring at Yunho for that long?’ he shrugged the thought and went to his closet. He picked out his clothes.

The university provided all of the attending students with their uniforms. Each student was given five shirts, 5 pairs of pants, and two pairs of shoes. The shirts were custom-made for the school. The lining of the shirt was of creamy ivory, equally contrasting with the main color of black. The buttons were made in onyx black, with the first button having the seal of Montessori, a golden sword hugged by one wing going up and one wing going down, stamped on in the same shade as the lining.

The pants had pretty much the same format. Main color is black with the buttons of the back pockets creamy ivory. The shoes were designed to be both durable and stylish, with the inside of the shoe having the seal of Montessori and the base of the sole with the seal as well.

Jaejoong grabbed a towel and went straight to the bathroom.

After half an hour, Jaejoong came out fully dressed and spotless. His black hair combed neatly, his hand cuffs folded formally, and his pants crinkled to a nice crisp.

He went to the kitchen and grabbed a bowl from the cabinets and a cereal box from the pantry. As he bent down to grab the carton of milk in the refrigerator, he heard footsteps coming from down the hallway.

Out came Yunho, hair misplaced and his sleeveless shirt wrinkled to many different points. Jaejoong stood up and stared at the bleary Yunho. He swallowed, loud enough for him to hear, but quiet enough not to echo. ‘Yunho has some nice biceps…’

“Is something on me?” Yunho asked, noticing Jaejoong’s surprised expression. Yunho hated anything that crawled strangely, whether it is spiders or bugs.

Jaejoong shook his head, coloring as he became aware that he had been staring at Yunho’s shoulder. Yunho took his head shaking as a sign that meant no, not noticing the deeper meaning to it.

Yunho grabbed a glass and poured some of the milk from the carton, after grabbing it from Jaejoong’s hands. “Good. I thought I was going to get bitten by something. By the way, you get up early. Already dressed and everything.”

“Since it is the first day, might as well be as presentable as we can. You should go take a bath soon before the whole school starts using the hot water.”

“That is a good reason to wake up earlier than everyone else. Here, I’ll go get my uniform ready.” Yunho handed the carton of milk back. Their hands once again brushed against each other.

Jaejoong cleared his throat, while Yunho didn’t seem to notice the contact. He went back to their room and picked out his uniform.

As he ate his cereal, one piece at a time, Jaejoong stared in space. He was thinking of all the classes, classmates, and teachers he was going to meet. Yet at every classroom he imagined, Yunho was there. He must be imagining him a lot because they are roommates and they see each other every day. As he continued to daydream for almost half an hour, Yunho snapped his fingers in front of the dazed Jaejoong.

“Hmm? What? Sorry…I was thinking of something.” Jaejoong said.

“About what?” Yunho asked with interest.

“The classes I might be taking. Along with the basic subjects, I am just going to be thrilled at what time I can take my composing and singing classes.”

“Cool. What time are we supposed to go get our schedules?”

“The note that came with the uniforms said to report to Room 727-R at 8:00 a.m. for our schedules.”

“Hmm…let’s go at 7:40.” Yunho looked at the clock that read 7:30.

“Ok.”

Junsu and Haiasi woke up at the same time, groaning as both alarms turned on at once.

They were both fully dressed and have eaten by 7:00. Junsu was still getting used to the habits of Haiasi. His constant arranging and cleaning of the dorm reminded Junsu very much of his brother. He smiles at the weirdest of times, although Junsu couldn’t resist but smile also, and he points at you and snaps his fingers when he wants your attention.

Weirdest of all is his use of female hair products. Even though Junsu is not bothered by it, it just makes him question as to why a manly guy like Haiasi would use such products. “I like the smell and the way it makes your hair better,” was the reason Haiasi gave when Junsu asked about it.

Haiasi looked at his watch and turned to face Junsu, “We should go.”

Junsu turned around and looked at the stovetop clock. “45 minutes early? What are you overly punctual too?”

“Maybe.” Haiasi grinned

. “Can’t we at least walk around the campus a bit before heading there? I don’t want to be seen waiting by a locked door.”

“Oh fine. Speaking of which, I haven’t asked you something yet.”

“Hmm?”

“What are you majoring on?”

“Singing and Dancing. And you?”

“An aspiring pianist and a novice composer.”

“Pianist? You can play the piano?”

“No Junsu. I can’t play the piano so I am taking it. Aha. What do you think? Of course I know how to play the piano. Why would I take the class if I didn’t?”

“Beats me.”

“Let’s go. We might meet a few classmates along the way.”

“JJ might be walking too. Fine.”

The school bell rang and the students filed in the classroom. Jaejoong, Yunho, Junsu, and Haiasi met along the way and decided to go into the classroom 15 minutes early.

A professor walked into the room as all eyes followed his path. He settled down his suitcase on the main desk, opened it, and took out a stack of papers.

«As I call out your name, please come forward and pick your schedules. First period starts at 8:50.»

After the brief sentence, the professor continued by calling out each student’s names,

«Abigail Abravos»

«Michael Brigandine»

The students that were called took their given schedules and walked out of the room. They must not want to be late on their first day.

«Geum Jandi»

«Im Yoona»

Haiasi’s head turned to the direction Yoona was walking down from. Yoona’s head was bowed, her hair partly covering her face. Haiasi smiled as he noticed some redness in her cheeks.

«Jung Yunho»

Yunho waved goodbye to his friends and proceeded to walk out of the room as he picked up his schedule. Jaejoong partly opened his mouth as Yunho walked out of the room. ‘Did I just want him to stay?’ he shook his head.

«Kim Jaejoong» «Kim Junsu»

Both stood up and grabbed their packs. Haiasi reached and held onto Junsu’s shoulder, “Wait for me” he pleaded. “Ha. Fine, we’ll wait outside the classroom.”

«Lee Minho»

«Nootab Haiasi»

Haiasi stood up and ran to get his schedule. He stepped out of the room and looked around. He saw Jaejoong and Junsu sitting on a bench. He went straight to them.

“So…anyone know the times tables?” panted Haiasi.

Junsu droned on about the schedule, “It says here that school begins 8:50 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m. First period is from 8:50 to 10:00, second period from 10:10 to 11:20, third period from 11:30 to 12:40, break is at 12:40 to 1:10, fourth period from 1:10 to 2:20, fifth period from 2:30 to 3:40, and sixth period from 3:50 to 5:00.”

“It’s going to be pretty hectic today. It’s a good thing we arrived early and got used to this place.” Jaejoong said.

“We change schedules in the middle of the semester. Right now I am taking…”

Each of the three shared what classes they were given. As they finished, they went to their respective classes. Junsu and Jaejoong had the same first period, while Haiasi had another. They parted ways for the day.

The day passed by quickly. Junsu and Jaejoong separated after first period ended. They met up once again during third period for their Chorus class. In the class, they saw Yoona, who talked briefly to Junsu after being introduced to Jaejoong.

At last, the break bell rang and all of the students walked in and out of the campus, meeting up with friends and going to eat.

“Aish. I am so tired. Finally getting classes and walking around to get to them is very tiring. No wonder there is a 10-minute interval between classes. This campus is huge.” Haiasi complained.

Junsu sat down with a tray of food from the cafeteria. Jaejoong went to look for a soda machine. After Junsu took a bite of his burger, he asked while chewing, “Pho ow wash yur phist pherod?”

“Excuse me what?” Haiasi couldn’t help but chuckle.

Junsu swallowed, “Sorry. I said so how was your first period?”

Haiasi choked a bit on his soft drink. His ears began to redden and he could feel the heat radiate from them.

Junsu eyed at the coloring Haiasi. He grinned, and then continued eating.

“Umm…it was good…” Haiasi managed to get out.

“Was Yoona there?” Junsu asked, without a tone of questioning found.

Haiasi’s head snapped up and stared at Junsu. He pouted and his brows crunched together, “How did you know?” he asked suspiciously.

“Intuition I guess.” Haiasi wanted to change the subject, “Well how was your day?”

“Well English was a bit difficult as I haven’t done it for a while, and PE got me sore even though I love PE, and chorus was ok.”

The color was starting to come back to Haiasi as he replied, “Oh. Cool.”

Out of nowhere Junsu said, “Yoona was there.”

The reddening came back and Haiasi glared at Junsu once more, “Will you stop talking about her? It’s not like I want to know everything about her.”

“Sure you don’t…” Junsu whispered.

“What was that?”

“Nothing.”

Junsu continued to eat. Jaejoong came a few minutes later with a can of soda. They chatted for a while about their next classes and soon the warning bell rang. They stood up and waved goodbye at each other.

Last period was finally coming. Jaejoong went to the theater hall for his last subject. He decided to take acting class because he couldn’t think of anything else to do.

Jaejoong reached for the door handle, but met someone’s hand. He followed the arm up to the face of which it belonged to. Yunho also followed the arm he had come in contact with and both stared at each other.

“Yunho? What brings you here?”

Yunho slowly removed his hand away from the handle, trying to casually move his hand to not seem like he didn’t want to touch Jaejoong.

“Acting I. I decided to take it and try it out. You?”

“The same reason you are here actually. We keep meeting like this.”

Yunho became curious, “Like what?”

“Nothing. Let’s go in before we are late.”

They got in and saw a couple of students sitting in the theater seats. Jaejoong decided to sit near the front, with Yunho following closely behind.

The whole theater echoed as the teacher spoke, «Hello class. My name is Yun Jihoo, but you can call me Mr. Yun. Today we shall begin by first talking about the basics of acting. »

The teacher droned on about acting, emphasizing each detail that acting comes with. 10 minutes before the final period ends, he calls for everyone’s attentions once again.

« Ok class. I would like for each of you to pick a partner. Preferably of opposite gender as we shall be covering one of the most famous plays of all times, Romeo and Juliet. »

Everyone rushed to pick their partners, others strangers to each other, while others seemed to be familiar with each other. There were only two people left partner less.

Mr. Yun went to the two people left partner less. «Excuse me, I seem to have noticed that there is a shortage of girls in this class this year. I am not forcing you two to partner with each other, but I guess it’s the only choice you have. Would you like to wait until we get new students? »

Jaejoong spoke, «I guess so. We sh-» An index finger stopped Jaejoong from talking.

«We’ll partner up. » Yunho said, his embarrassment hidden under the dim light.

Jaejoong stared at the teacher to Yunho. It took him a few seconds to guess who will be playing Juliet.

«Wait what?! »
