«This one will go on her bag…. » Dashuu pointed to the almost pin sized microphone that they had managed to separate from the mess of wires. «And these, » She moved her hands to the more elaborately wired and larger ones. «I’ll plant in her room. She never actually leaves there, since she only attends classes when she feels like it. The really big ones will go in hotspots and popular areas she frequents otherwise. » She said, picking up the earphones she’d also obtained. «I’ll plant the ones for her bedroom when she’s out this evening (Johnny isn’t hard to distract), and then the rest when she’s sleeping. I don’t know how I’ll get the one on her bag, though. I might have to call up some old ‘friends’. » She ended her explanation, waiting for a response..
Yunho and Jaejoong just watched in awe, their torsos indented from the table edge. . «That sounds great! » exclaimed Jaejoong when Dashuu had finished, before he took out his cell phone. “You have our numbers, right? And you’ll call Yunho if anything happens?”
Dashuu nodded. «But I don’t have yours, Jaejoong-tan. » She said, opening her bag to get her phone so she could add Jaejoong’s number. Yunho winced at the title Dashuu had chosen. She did have a tendency to not use polite language.
«Then, I’ll get back to you! Good luck on your trip tomorrow, Yunho. » Dashuu bowed quickly and swept the tags and earphones from the table into her bag. Thankfully, they wouldn’t get tangled again due to the twist-ties separating the wires that they’d added.
«And good luck on not getting caught. » Yunho smirked and bowed as Dashuu made her way to the door.
«I don’t get caught...Suwako and I have half of the school wired and they don’t know it. » She said cunningly.
Yunho and Jaejoong froze and looked at eachother, fear evident in their eyes. Did that mean…?
«Of course not. I only listened with Tiffany told me to. And I’ve already deactivated the tags so Tiffany couldn’t access them. She just uses visual surveillance and her goons to get information now. » Dashuu winced at the idea of Tiffany having access to audio surveillance equipment.. « Anyway, obviously I have anything to do with her anymore, your privacy is safe~ » She reassured, leaving Yunho and Jaejoong still frozen and worried.
Jaejoong leaned towards Yunho and whispered, as if someone was still watching them.
«Exactly how much did they hear? »
«They don’t know what they’re missing. » Yoochun said as he watched students get in their expensive cars on the way to the museum. “The party’s in the vans.”
«As if they care, the point is that they get there for the credit. » Junsu said with a small smirk.
Yunho checked his watch. «We should get going soon too if we want to get there in time. »
«I’ll go remind my students to be here in five, if they haven’t been already. » Yoochun mumbled half-mindedly as he walked off to the quad.
«What’s a piano class doing going to the museum? » Yoona asked, mostly to herself. She started to wander off in the direction of the vans.
«Culture. That and a break from scales, I guess. » Answered Haiasi, who was just taking an educated guess.
«You should know that Yoochun’s too bored with scales to teach them. He just lets us use the book as a reference when we need it. » Junsu smiled, showing obvious relief. The last thing he wanted was to have to memorize list after list of patterns, half of which he probably would never use.
Haiasi shrugged and looked over at the vans. «We really should get going. » He walked to the parking lot, following Yoona. «Coming? » Yoona called over her shoulder to the rest of the group.
«…Yeah. I’ll catch up. » Yunho said, having caught a glimpse of Jaejoong, who’d come to see him off, leaning on the gate.
«Don’t take too long. » Junsu teased, making a move to wave at Yoochun, who was walking back from the quad. «Hurry up, we’re going! » He called impatiently.
«Yeah, yeah! » Yoochun waved back once. «Rough ride, Su! Jessica and her girls are coming. » He said with a flinched expression.
Junsu could feel his stomach drop. That meant a whole hour of fangirls. And squealing. He made a mental note to keep the PDA to an absolute minimum, if possible. If anything, he’d have to restrict Yoochun.
Yoochun walked back to the gate, his ears pricking as he heard a quiet “But I’ll be gone the whole day..” followed by an embarrassed and hushed “Only the day, you aren’t that needy are you?” Yoochun, feeling extremely curious, glanced to the side, where Yunho and Jaejoong had hidden themselves in the trees’ shade. Jaejoong gave up and let Yunho kiss him once. It wasn’t until tongues became involved that Yoochun walked over and poked Yunho’s back to remind him that they had somewhere to be. “Stop eating each other’s faces and meet us at the van.” He said, not caring about hiding the fact that he had been watching.
Yunho sighed and released his hold on Jaejoong. «I’ll see you later. » He said casually, looking warily at the group of girls who had come out shortly after Yoochun. Jaejoong walked away from the gate as if nothing had happened, stealing a glance at Yunho as he walked away after the girls. He blushed and turned back to the campus.
At the vans, everyone was organizing themselves into groups. In the end, Haiasi, Yoona, and Yunho decided to stay together. Because they didn’t want to try to liven up the other students, Yoochun and Junsu joined them. Unfortunately for them, two more people could still fit in the van, so Jessica and Eri insisted on sharing. Junsu was utterly thrilled.
«If you don’t want to get left behind, hurry in~» Yoona called from inside the van, moving to the seat in front next to Haiasi to let Yoochun and Junsu in. Yunho sat in the very front, to the left of the driver, who was wearing a hoodie that covered his face and blocked him off from any conversation. Seemed he didn’t like college students very much. Yunho sighed and decided he would just sleep, curling up on his side and falling into dreamland right before the driver started the van. Something about the vibrating van and the sound of the engine was able to keep him asleep.
Eri almost reflexively sat in the back with Yoochun and Junsu, causing suggestive laughs and giggles to wash over the middle, which seated Haiasi, Yoona, and Jessica.
With this, all of Junsu’s attempts of remaining civil fell apart and he leaned casually into Yoochun’s shoulder, shooting a look at Eri that said ‘He’s mine.’ Eri challenged this by leaning onto Yoochun’s other shoulder and pinching Junsu’s cheek, earning a scowl and many snickers from their ‘audience’.
« Now, now… No fighting. » Yoochun scolded, even though he was thoroughly enjoying the little competition. Junsu huffed and complied, making a face at Eri when he realized she hadn’t gotten off of Yoochun’s shoulder.
Jessica reached over the seat and tapped her. «You too, Eri. » She said, making an attempt to suppress her next giggle.
Eri sat up straight with a pout and her hands in her lap. She looked to the side innocently as her hand snaked around to firmly pinch Yoochun’s right butt cheek.
«Yah!! » Yoochun yelped and rocketed out of his seat, his head making a violent collision with the van’s ceiling. The laughter mixed with Yoochun’s groans of pain made Junsu’s high pitched growl almost inaudible.
The jubilant audience soon turned their heads to Junsu in anticipation of his counterattack. Junsu simply fumed for a few seconds, before deciding it fit to firmly squeeze Yoochun’s crotch, earning a yelp, a nervous laugh from Haiasi, and loud laughter and giggling from Yoona and Jessica. Haiasi cleared his throat awkwardly and raised a rather arrogant looking Junsu’s hand above their heads to signify his victory, while Eri slumped into her seat in defeat.
She thought about going further, and would have, but that would earn her an entire year of exile.
«Alright, alright. » Yoochun cleared his throat, shifting in his seat. «I’ve gotten abused enough. » He rubbed the lump that was beginning to form on his head with a wince, wondering what Junsu would have done if Eri hadn’t admitted defeat.
«I’m surprised Yunho hasn’t woken up…» Jessica said quietly, as if lowering the volume would change the fact that they’d been extremely noisy just a few seconds ago..
And as if ridiculously on cue, a loud snore sounded in the front of the van, prompting Yoona to reach over and poke Yunho’s back to make him turn over. «He’s not waking up any time soon. » She muttered, noting how heavy the roll onto his back had been..
«At least this time we won’t be spreading rumors about him. » Junsu said, remembering the chaos that had been brought about that night about… stuffed animals and grease.
«This does feel like déjà vu though. » Said Yoochun, confusing everyone else in the van save for Junsu.
«Not going to ask. But interesting stuff usually happens while people are sleeping… » Haiasi said, turning back to Yunho’s sleeping figure in the front seat.
Silence. And expectation.
…
And absolutely nothing.
«This is really interesting. » Eri said snarkily.
«Let’s trick his subconscious into thinking he’s alone. » Junsu said, motioning for everyone to be quiet.
«Mhmh….squirrel. »Yunho mumbled, jolted into half consciousness from the bumpy road.
«Squirrel? Where? » Yoona said, trying to get a response.
«...Tap-dancing… »
…
«Is he alone? » Jessica egged on, smiling widely.
«The clown… it’s attacking...Jaejoong. » Yunho rolled back over onto his side.
…
Chaos ensued. Haiasi reached over Yoona and shoved Yunho in an attempt to wake him. «Wake up, you! » He tried to say over the laughter that had overtaken the cabin and thoroughly annoyed the driver. «Huh? Rwe there ye? » Yunho mumbled, groggily turning back to see what was going on. The laughter stopped almost instantly.
«Did you save Jaejoong? » Yoochun asked smugly.
Yunho blinked in confusion and laid back down. «Wake me up when we get there, then…» The very dense air of amusement was probably nothing.
Dashuu yawned and turned the dial on the radio that was capturing Tiffany’s every sound. Nothing yet, just Tiffany boring her “friends” talking about something stupid that Dashuu wasn’t even paying attention to. But then, the sound stopped abruptly, as if a sudden hush had fallen over the group, which was soon followed by static. Dashuu’s eye twitched and she reached for her cell phone hastily, punching in Jaejoong’s number. Her fingers hovered when she was unsure of a digit, but the answer tone told her she hadn’t made a mistake.
«…Hello? » Jaejoong’s voice sounded on the other line.
«Hey Jae-- »
“Who’s that, Joongie? “ An older female’s voice sounded in Korean, obviously on another line with Jaejoong.
«I’m… Dashuu. » She said, wondering if Jaejoong linked the call on purpose.
“Noona-noona, Joongie’s foster mom…. “ Noona said with a confused undertone to her voice. Dashuu, of course, couldn’t understand and stayed silent so Jaejoong could handle it.
“She’s a friend, Noona… “ Jaejoong explained and tried to find the right button on his phone. “Aish, I didn’t hang up properl-“ “Jaejoong, if you’re cheating on Yunnie-“ “Yah! Nothing like that, I’ll talk to you later. “ He pulled up the call menu and waited for Noona to say a very suspicious goodbye before hanging up that line.
«So, you’ve got an older girl back in Korea? What a player. » Dashuu joked, smirk evident in her voice. Her illiteracy in Korean was being used to her advantage, this time.
«Very funny. She’s my foster mom. » Jaejoong said, his voice torn between amusement and exasperation.
Dashuu snickered. «If you say so, but if I find out you’ve been cheating on Yunh-- »
«Yah! » Jaejoong sighed with a small smile. «You two are too alike… but you must have called for a reason, what happened? » He said, changing the subject and remembering her agreement to call one of them. It floated to the top of his mind that she said she’d call Yunho, but he decided to ignore it and listen.
Dashuu regained her composure. «The connection got cut off suspiciously; I think she’s on to us. Wanna go check it out? » She asked idly, spinning her pencil with her fingers.
«Yeah, that’s alright. » Jaejoong said, a hint of worry popping up in his voice. «Where? »
«Meet me by the girls’ dorms, but be casual about it. » Dashuu said, hanging up the line and getting her things. Off of her bed she grabbed the radio and earphones, and sunglasses. Got to look cool if you’re about to go do some problem sleuthing. She shoved the radio discreetly into her leather bag and put one earphone in her ear, in case the reception came back.
Dashuu left her room with a feigned bounce in her step, as if she was listening to music. In case Tiffany really had found out the audio surveillance, Dashuu kept the wire hidden underneath her jacket.
Jaejoong strolled down the walkway to the dorms, hands in his pockets. He stopped short of the girls’ dorm, waiting on the concrete path for Dashuu to emerge.
Soon enough, a dark figure opened the door and looked out, waving at Jaejoong as she walked down the path to meet him.
«That was quick. » Dashuu commended while checking herself to make sure she looked ‘normal’. It was a usual occurrence for her to wear black, so she decided that the particularly dark but casual outfit she’d been wearing was sufficient enough to hide her intentions.
«I was around, » Jaejoong shrugged. «You certainly look cool today. » He complimented jokingly as he started walking further down the path, prompting Dashuu to walk beside him to keep up.
«Thanks, but-ack! » Dashuu spluttered as her “coolness” was instantly ruined by the ankle-bending stumble she’d just taken. «I was just trying to not look suspicious. » She played off with an embarrassed look on her face.
Jaejoong laughed and changed the subject. «Where to? »
«She’s in her room, but that’s too dangerous. We’re just going to test the wires that I left on the outside for quick maintenance. » Dashuu said, leading the way to the side of the dormitory building.
«Outside of her room? Are they concealed enough? »
«Of course, I pulled up some of the carpet and hid them. They were just extra wires that I could use to check the radio frequency if anything happened. Wireless surveillance isn’t always perfect, you know. » She said as she pressed a button on the elevator. Jaejoong was about to protest, but it wasn’t his place to say…
« Over here. » Dashuu walked out of the elevator after it stopped on the top floor and beckoned Jaejoong to follow her to a quiet hallway.
Jaejoong followed, looking behind himself warily. Even if the rules about the opposite gender in a dorm were lax because of Tiffany, they still weren’t usually found going farther than the lounge. No one ever ventured into a hallway.
Dashuu stopped and leaned down next to a door with a pink sign on it that read “Her Highness.” Jaejoong looked weirdly at the fluff-embroidered sign, finding it obvious that she put it up herself. His attention soon turned to Dashuu, who was uncovering wires from under the carpet that seemingly ran through the gap under the door into Tiffany’s room. She took the radio from her bag and plugged in her earphones, holding one of them to her ear to listen for any feedback.
«Huh. Doesn’t work here either. » Dashuu said worriedly. «Then she found it out…? » The words trailed off into silence.
Jaejoong bit the inside of his cheek. «What does that mean, she knows now? »
«She’s so arrogant she probably doesn’t care. » Dashuu muttered. «It’s worth reporting, though. » She took out her cell phone and walked down the hallway on the way to the elevator. She punched in Yunho’s number and waited for him to answer.
«Hullo? »A familiar greasy voice answered the phone.
«Yoochun? Give Yunho his phone, please. » Dashuu said, chuckling slightly. She waited and listened to the noise in the back ground.
«Out of the way please. » Rustling.
«Yah, just pass the phone! » A high-pitched squished voice.
«Wake up! » An annoyed whisper.
And then just grumbling as Yunho put the phone to his ear. «Hello? »
«Why are you sleeping in the van? » Dashuu asked with a laugh. «Wait no, that’s not what I called for. Turn down the volume of your phone. » She said over a noise that signaled that Yunho was thinking of an answer to her previous question. After Yunho confirmed that he had lowered the speaker volume, Dashuu went on. «Tiffany found out about the tags in her room. This doesn’t mean much, but now she knows that we’re expecting her to pull something so she’ll tell her goons to cool the “We’re up to no good” act. I don’t know who you’re in the van with so I automatically don’t trust them, and you shouldn’t either. Except for Yoochun, and… Junsu? I heard him in there being suffocated. »
Yunho took a moment to process what Dashuu had just told him. «Understood. Haiasi and Yoona are here too, but I’ll take your advice. I’ll tell everyone, thanks. » He assured.
«Take care,» Dashuu greeted and hung up. She turned to Jaejoong. «We’ll wait for Tiffany to come out-she should soon, she’s been in there for hours-and then we’ll see if anything else happens. Even if she found out about the room tap I don’t think she’s paranoid to check every corner of the campus. »
Jaejoong nodded and they set off for their next stop.
«Nothing. » Dashuu sighed outside of the campus lounge’s “VIP” room. Tiffany had, as expected, left her dorm and dragged her followers to the lounge. They had only been there for 15 minutes but, «The others should be just now getting to the museum, so it’s useless to try anymore. Let’s just see what happens when they come back. » This left Jaejoong and Dashuu slouched across from eachother at one of the booth seats, bag slung lazily on the floor under the table.
Jaejoong sipped the straw for his iced coffee and nodded. « I’ll call you over when they get back from the museum, then. » He stood up, picking up his coffee and nudging Dashuu’s bag away with his foot so he could step out..
Dashuu sighed and picked up her bag, slinging it onto her shoulder as she stood up.. «On the bright side. » She said as she followed Jaejoong outside, looking around at the campus’s scenery. «It looks like the sakura are going to bloom soon. »
