* So I dropped the Languages in Contact class recently. Didn't turn out to be either as interesting or helpful (to my career, at least) as I thought it would be. No matter, 'cause it was a completely optional elective anyway. Speaking of classes...
* I'm considering taking four classes next semester, even with the baby here. Reason being: there's a new requirement that doctoral students in my department take 16 hours (essentially six classes) at the 8000 level or above. It's mainly to make sure I stay up on top of things. Plus, the course I want to take (Generative Syntax) sounds quite interesting... and useful. Speaking of useful...
* I find myself looking more into applied Hispanic linguistics as a career field. The course I take now in applied linguistics mainly deals with problems that arise in the learning of Spanish by native English speakers. And that's cool, and definitely interesting, but I find myself often thinking in terms of comparative/contrastive linguistics as they apply to translation. Seems like my interests change every semester though, lol...
* Amy looks cute pregnant. And she's growing out of all of her pants.
