(no subject)
So, that was an attempt at a week off. What's new. Well, hair is still falling out..gah! Yeah, soon I'll be rawwkin the hijab. Never thought I would say this, but: Thank god I don't live in France! I asked around a bit and apparently it's not offensive to Muslims to wear it if youre not Muslim. I know it's just a scarf, but people make assumptions. As for what other people assume, I don't care. I'll prolly just wear a hat on days off, but hats aren't allowed with the uniform at all times:( I think I can squeeze by claiming 'religious exception'. Yeah, I know, but it's not like I'm renouncing or anything and everyone at base knows my situation and will know it's just a loophole. I just hope I don't piss off anyone with my soooo not demure demeanor and chain smoking though! So yeah, there's white prickly fuzz coming in on the big patch now (Yaay seaweed!(?)) but I've got three more ( small, the size of quarters) starting. I expect that makes sense. It's not an instantaneous thing so whatever triggered this prolly happened a few months ago. Thing is, it's growing back white. Blech :( As for my stress free week off work, it went something like this: Anissa called and said that the company that takes care of the computers (who are massive piss heads) said that they'll have to pay their massively inflated protection money bill in four days or else they wouldn't "validate" their software. Essentially, they either pay them off or find another company that can get them set up in less than four days. I spent the first couple days off panicking and trying my very best to get everything up and running. The whole time I told them that it most likely would not work (am I ever glad I did that!) In the end, it came down to the stupid driver for their touchscreens. There is no way in hell I can even begin to reverse engineer a driver (or even recognize one if I saw one!) and they've got super-I-dunno-korean-touchscreen-with-not-so-best-under-construction-drivers-page. The only driver I found for it (and I question that because it was on one of those click though a thousand ads and sign up pages) was for windows. Sigh, so after doing what I could, I gracefully admitted defeat and proceeded to drink my face off (well hey I was already there). So that haunted me for a couple of days (still) afterwards. I don't think it's so much my awful defeat that bothers me, more so that fact that I got hammered and sung how soon is now at karaoke. How embarrassing! Especially seeing as I can't sing! Speaking of being over dramatic...yes, I know I am being. I didn't really 'fail' because I never really promised anything in the first place. It's not that I ever had any skills to fail with to begin with and I do go out of my way to make sure everybody knows that. So it's not an issue of eating humble pie, I just feel more like frustrated todler who can't seem to stay within the lines. I just really wanted to help (not just Rockies, but it would also help foss overall by promoting it word of mouth) and I just really really wanted this to work!! :( Speaking of work, I gotta call my scheduler today. It was nice having a week off, but even with my vacation pay I'm stretching things. All in all, I'm not sure it helps my hair situation, but I did have a massive suck out this week.
