Christmas comes but once a year...

(and sometimes thats a good thing)

Well, Christmas this year wasn't a total bust. I'm not a Huge fan of Christmas, just because its one of those family holidays that always ends up awkward for me. As a Child It was put on me to decide my "Christmas schedule" (where I would spend Christmas eve/day, choosing between Moms and Dad s house, various Grandparents etc) and I knew even then that no matter how well I thought it out, that no one would be happy Which would mean I wasn't happy. We spent the thursday evening before x-mas at my parents house, Which was ok, (especially since I came armed with some Hard apple cider) even though my Step father was in a bad mood so wouldn't sit in the room with us. and I know that this next Paragraph is going to make me sound like a brat but here goes anyway:

I had informed my parents well in advance of our wishes: We were planning on buying a laptop in the post X-mas sales, and wanted no presents except Gift cards. I thought that It would make it easier for everyone, And I didn't even name an amount of money: I just wanted the gift cards. I don't know if my parents forgot, or they just didn't think I should get what i wanted: instead I received 3 Shirts that were 3 sizes too big (3X...I mean, come on) socks that were two sizes too small, A box of cappuccino Packets, a giant recharge flashlight (ok, this was pretty cool) and a Burger press that my sister picked out. So all in all my mother probably spent $50 on all this stuff, which is fine, but I can't help but look at all of it and go "um...gift card???" Alright, end of complaining about presents, must remember the starving Children of..wherever...who get no cappuccino packets.

as for our end, this year we got all parental units (my mom and dad, Janie, Davids parents and My Grandmother) the same Gift: we Had Portraits taken and got frames. No one got the same picture since we ordered 4 different Poses, and we tried to pick out frames that went with each living room decor. My sister got a stuffed monkey wearing headphones, which were really speakers for the MP3 player Santa Claus was bringing her. and thus we came through Christmas with thoughtful(ish) gifts, and we had spent less then $100.

We left on the 23rd for Houston, where Davids parents live and stayed through the 26th.we took the Doggy with us, and she enjoyed running around their back yard. it was so Restful. (except for the air mattress of doom) We got $300 in Best buy gift cards, Super Mario Galaxy for the wii, a silk scarf and his parents gave us a scroll that they had gotten in China in 1982, since our living room is somewhat decorated in an asian theme. we ate every..oh, 45 minutes or so; Got Davids dad interested in Firefly, and ended up bringing home a sack full of paper backs that they were finished reading. I loved staying there, but I was so glad to be home at the end of it. Home is where the heart (and the tivo) is.

and yes, we got our laptop specs HERE
