"Lord, what fools these mortals be"

So. Guess who decided that climbing a recently snowed on tree was a good idea.

Yeah, apparently it's not such a smart thing to do after all. In all fairness, it was a small tree. Relatively.

It's been a while, so I forgot how much broken wrists can hurt, and how much of an inconvenience they are. I'm going to have to sit out on the senior/faculty basketball game next week. While I'm not in the best physical condition, I'm no pushover either, so I probably could've helped at least a little. It would have been fun I hope these next six weeks go fast. Milo is teasing me again about it and my lil sister wants to draw on the cast. I know she won't quit asking until I agree but probably should limit her to only part of the cast and only two colors otherwise I shudder to think of the little-girl monstrosity that would result.

Supernatural was awesome last Thursday, just like I thought it would be. I understand why the production team decided to switch the eleventh and twelfth episodes but there were some things about Mystery Spot (especially the beginning) that didn't mesh well with the end of ep. 3x10. Glad that got cleared up. Now I'm just waiting impatiently for the end of April to come about so I can see how the rest of this season progresses.

Let me just say that the cable show "Dexter" is awesome. I thought I reached my limit on watching bodies being cut open with "House" but I was sadly (gladly?) mistaken. I spent a good two hours last night semi-nauseated just so I could watch Michael C. Hall (Why do I keep wanting to type Anthony Michael Hall instead?) chop up bad guys into neatly wrapped plastic packages. So we have a sociopath struggling to manage the life of a normal well-adjusted individual despite the fact that he has the emotional capacity of a furby. It makes great television, let me tell you. Though I have to admit that I cannot successfully watch the opening theme sequence. I turned it off right there.

Although "Dexter" made me squick in a highly uncomfortably way, I like the show and hopefully I'll have the occasion to watch more of it. Just not in time blocks longer than an hour at a time

I was also able to watch some anime and read a few manga over the weekend in my spare time. Mostly of the mindless and girly variety. It was definitely needed after watching "Dexter".

Not that I care, seeing as I am a girl and an often mindless one at that. See above for confirmation.

*Spoilers*
I read and watched all of Full Moon wo Sagashite. I have to admit the anime did a lot better about following an actual storyline. The episodes were clear and easy to follow while the manga it was based on seemed to wind about with no real point until the end. Even then it was a bit hard to follow. While it may be because of time constraints, there were a few plot points that never really got discussed or were handled wrong.

The most noticeable being the fact that in the anime, Takuto was fully dead (despite not being fully a shinigami) and was just randomly given the opportunity to come back to life (albeit without his memories). The storyline claims it was a reward for his actions, and implies it was the blonde woman (and where did she come from anyway?) who gave it to him. In the manga Takuto was not fully a shinigami because he was not fully dead. Once he regained his memories his spirit (consciousness?) was able to return to his body. I think that makes a whole lot more sense than the previous reason. And don't even get me started on Mitsuki's miraculous return to health.

Over all though I think they were decent and I don't wish to regain the time it took to enjoy them. Though a suggestion to anyone wanting to watch the anime: watch the OVA sometime in the middle of the series (possibly right after the lake episode?) otherwise it will seem really out of place.

And the other series I read were:
the entirety of
Absolute Boyfriend: I thought it was wacky in a good way until chapter 30 then wacky in a not so good way for the remaining three chapters. It has a bit of the anime version of Kare Kano vibe.

and the first fifty chapters of
W Juliet: so far a really good manga if you are into the gender bender genre and even if you aren't it has some really good points. It has some of the longest chapters I have ever seen though it doesn't seem that way when reading it. (I only noticed because I kept checking the clock while reading since my plan was to finish reading before going to sleep and it was getting close to Dad's wake up time.) While I was somewhat off-put by the blatant use of the supernatural in such a realistic setting (I get the normal ghost-story-turned-real but what was the point of an actual mermaid? Even if it was a ghost one.) I thought the writing was interesting. Some of the plot points were typical for a school based manga story and some of the jokes I've seen before in other works but overall W Juliet is a great story to read.

I think that is all for now, I'll be back later. Possibly when I have full control of all my limbs.
Ciao,
Spades
