Hunter said a supply boat came out to the rig and brought all these finches with it. The finches then got onto the rig. He said you could hear them chirping all day, these cheery bright birds from land. But see they're too far from shore to fly back. And there isn't food for them really. They're dying one at a time. He doesnt know if he should try to feed them or if that would just prolong things. Every day more & more dead birds.

Hunter hates it whenever he sees birds hurt especially if they just have one leg. I remember him telling me that looking at some birds in a parking lot: "it makes me sad when they only have one leg." I asked which of them was missing a leg. "No those all have two. But sometimes I'll see a bird that only has one and I get sad." At the time I laughed but I knew what he meant.
