Daylight savings means the cat's up earlier than usual, annoyingly begging to be fed his breakfast. I tried to pretend to be asleep but that just made it worse somehow. I think that cat has extrasensory perception that allows him to know when I'm faking him out. If it wasn't happening to me I'd think that was the cutest most clever cat trick ever, but it is so the trick loses a bit of it's luster with each passing morning.

But coffee - strong and dark - makes it all better and I tickle his belly before leaving for work.

Once at work I notice the ravages of the weekend. My ground-floor office window is a sheet of sparkly cracks. The shattered safety glass making it seem as though there was an ice storm. It's all very pretty, though nowhere as impressive as when the twenty foot tall window in my old office suffered a drill bit and came crashing down like a curtain of diamonds.

So that's two office windows in two years. I hope that nobody thinks I'm bad juju and gets me relocated to a windowless bunker somewhere.

And on matters unrelated to everything, here's why I never catch anything when I go fishing. I'm obviously doing it wrong.
