Lydia is napping, after having to take an emergency visit to the doctors this morning.

Lydia stuck her hand in the guinea pigs cage and was bit. Hard. There was blood everywhere, on her, on me, on the floor. Everywhere. Jeff flipped out (I'm starting to think this is a male trait) and I was trying to calm her and him down at the same time. We put peroxide on it and then I wrapped all four of her fingers with guaze and cloth tape to keep them still and to stop the bleeding. I changed clothes, washed off the blood a bit, and got them into the car and called the doctors office on the way to make sure we could come there, or see if we needed to just go straight to emergency. She siad to come there, and they got us back quickly.

I was cool and calm and collected until they went to put the stera tape on her, she was screaming so hard and there was nothing I could do and I just broke down crying. And she was crying and looking at me like "mom why are YOU crying?" *sigh*. They gave us the stera tape and told us to watch for infection but its not likely since we cleaned it out immediatly with the peroxide and told us to put some liquid bandage on top of the stera tape when we got home. So we did that and then put a hello kitty bandaid on top of that and gave her some Motrin and put her down for a nap.

Gods its horrible seeing your baby covered in blood, and Jeff was threatening to skin the quinea pig, but instead we moved him to on top of her dresser. He's been known to nibble us lightly but never hard and I am really shocked this happened. Of all the possibilties of injury she could have from an animal I would have thought it would be from Romeo and not Wilbur.

Oh, and when we got to the docs office they took us to a different station than usual and weighed Lydia and she came up as 18 lbs 8 oz. I was like "What!?" Thats a half pound less than her 12 month appt. When I told the doctor she had them weigh her at the usual station and she weighed at 18 lbs 15 oz, which is just an oz less and she said she is fine, just more active and shes not as likely to gain weight rapidly right now. Thats a big difference in stations though, for babies anyways.

I'm going to go laydown. I need a nap after all this.

crazy daddy, lydia injury, weight, wilbur
