I would like to conduct a survey sorda. I doubt I really will go through with it, but it would be interesting to see the results. Anyway I want to go around and ask every couple I know who says that they are in love, exactly why they believe that they are in love. So for those of you who read this and truly believe that they are in love with their ( Read more... )

Define Love poignantone October 25 2004, 22:57:29 UTC
Define love... that’s just it there is no definition. A lot of people confuse love for other things because they are still searching for its definition. Love is confused for lust, convenience, and faint emotion with a craving of love as an impetus to declare that one is "in love." the truth is that no one has a definition because it isn’t something meant to be defined. Love is all of a sudden not even thinking about other girls in a sexual way, missing someone before they even leave your side, being willing to forgive them for anything and being understanding of everything. Love is being there to help when your not asked and even when your asked not to, love is that feeling inside like something is missing the second you think about a person being gone for even a minute. Love is kind, love is patient, love understands, love is stronger than death and greater than life, love is a look in your eyes that only those who have had it can recognize. Love is consciously not manipulating someone even if it means you don’t get what you want, love is telling the truth even if it will piss them off, love is hard and arduous but rewarding as hell. If done right and given the proper attention and perseverance you can end up with something greater than even the most optimistic hopeless romantic could imagine.
No one chooses to be in love, love chooses them and so it is fair to say that one doesn’t know they are in love until well after they are. To say that love doesn’t exist or even more elegantly "love is shit" is to say that one is alone in this world. I believe there is another half to everyone’s sole; that person is the person that understands you best without needing explanation, the person who mysteriously scratches your back when you have an itch you never acknowledged, the person who sees every character flaw and instead of loving you despite them loves you because of them, the person you can fart in front of and for some reason its just not disgusting, or the person whose gum you can chew even after its lost most of its flavor just cus it ended up in your mouth.
Love isn’t a feeling or an emotion, love is a state of mind and it is a euphoric version of nirvana to say the least. To be lucky enough to find a woman (Alicia) I can honestly say that I am in love with is a gift “I didn’t think could be real.” To know that she feels “the same as I do is a threefold utopian dream” (to rip off incubus). And I refuse to lose that dream and I absolutely will not believe it is self-inflicted nor will it ever be definable as pseudo anything.
