"Hey, wake up."
She opened her eyes sleepily, lazily stretching in bed before turning towards the sound of his voice. He sat on the bed next to her, watching her stir from her sleep, a grin creeping across his face. "Get up, look out the window."
"What?" Her voice was thick with sleep, and she shook her head once, twice, long strands of black hair falling around her face.
"Just look." He playfully pulled her up, nudging her to get out of bed, towards the window. Reluctant to leave the warmth of the bed, she let him drag her, before finally turning to look out the window.
Her eyes widened, and she gasped in surprise. "Wow. Just... Wow."
The world outside the window was blanketed in a deep layer of fresh snow, painting everything a pure, pure white. It covered everything as far as she could see - cars and roads, roofs and gardens, all a sheet of white. Coming from a country that never had any snow, all she could do was watch, amazed, as the snow continued to fall.
"It's amazing," she finally murmured, mesmerized.
"It's just snow," was his reply as he shrugged. "Come on." He slipped her warm coat over her shoulders, handing her her gloves as she tore her eyes away from the sight out of the window.
"I reckon it'd be fun," she stated, starting to grin wickedly, "to throw snowballs at you." With that, she dashed out of the room, pulling on her boots quickly when she reached the back door of the house.
"At least until I tackle you!" She heard him shout, and with a frightened giggle she was out of the door, her boots sinking deep into the soft snow with each step she took.
He came out a few seconds later, scanning the back yard for her when something hit his arm. He turned, and there she was, eyes glowing with excitement, gloves damp from the snow, another snowball ready in her right hand. With a playful growl, he ran towards her at a headlong run, hearing her bubbling laugh and taking another snowball to the shoulder, before he launched himself at her, tackling her to the ground.
The snow gave way beneath them, and she squeaked, laughing. Panting, he pushed himself up off the ground, grinning at her. "I told you I would." She just giggled and blushed, just as winded as he was, dark eyes watching him intently. With a teasing sigh, he leaned down and kissed her.
