Private to Konan parousian June 22 2009, 07:08:36 UTC
[ He's unsurprised that her dreams are filled with so much confusion, pain, and loss -- and guilt. So much of it. ]

Do you think he forgives you?

[ It's not clear which one he's referring to. ]

[The little black device buzzes. It's a transmitter of some kind. And it seems that Madara was right, it transmits dreams.

Connects everyone with everyone else, like Nagato's satellite bodies.

These things, she thinks, are private. Your mind and your feelings are your own, and even when everything else is taken from you, they remain yours. She thinks again about smashing the device over the corner of the bureau.

Not that it would help. She already tried it, the device fiendishly reassembled itself right in front of her. It must be, she thinks, genjutsu. What else could explain it but magic? Does Konoha now have the ability to not only bug it's enemies but invade their dreams?

She picks it up.

Almost says: Go away, Madara.]

It isn't your business.

[Hakkai draws his hand away from the device, startled.]

Miss, I apologize... I didn't mean to see that.

[She doesn't recognize him. He's dressed strangely, like a foreigner. A lifetime on the streets has taught her to trust her gut instinct with strangers.

He doesn't seem threatening. But it's hard to know what to say... when a strange piece of surveillance equipment has broadcast your private dreams. The stranger is polite so she tries to be polite in return.]

There is no need to apologize... I'm sorry I disturbed you.

[smiles a little, gently]

Are you okay? Now, I mean?

[Eyes him warily. He doesn't seem to be a ninja. She hasn't dealt with anyone in a non-combat situation other than Pain and Madara in...

...years, she realizes. Talking to people, carrying on a conversation normally, is a skill. A normal skill. She realizes it's one she's forgotten.]

Yes. It was just a dream.

[She's not sure what to add to that.]
