Title: Epilogue
Author: shiroikazex
Group/pairing: Akame
Genre: Angst, romance
Rating: PG
Summary: Jin's off to chase his dream, and it's on the brink of coming true. His past visits him.
Disclaimer: Never mine!
Notes: The oddest way to celebrate Jin's single release but the best way to procrastinate studying for Biology.

An Infiniti FX cruises down the road and disappears into the underground carpark. The lights on the 23rd floor of the apartment complex flicker on after a while. The only customer in the cafe across the road leaves a handful of coins on the table, and jogs towards the entrance to the building.

When Jin opens the door, the person that he least expects is standing there.

"Whoa, hi," he says in English habitually. "Oops, sorry. Got too used to it."

"It's fine," his visitor replies in Japanese. "Can I come in?"

"Er, sure."

Jin steps aside to let the younger male in. He looks around the room curiously, and Jin is at a loss of words.

"Nice place, I guess. You've settled in well."

"Kamenashi, what are you doing here?"

Kazuya stands with his back facing Jin, gazing at the unfamiliar streets of LA below him.

"I got 3 off days. Thought I'd come visit."

"Don't you have a drama on now?"

"You know about it?" There is a tone of surprise.

"Just cos I'm not in Japan doesn't mean I'm oblivious to everything that's going on in the company."

"I asked for leave, actually. Was too tired."

"The workaholic taking leave? That's rare," Jin chuckles, and a more important question crosses his mind. "...How did you even know where I lived? I haven't told anyone."

"Johnny-san."

"Ah, well, that... Wait, how did you even know I would be in? You didn't call to say you were visiting."

"I didn't know," Kazuya chuckles nervously and sits himself down on the comfy white couch in the middle of the studio apartment. "It was a blind shot."

"What would you have done if I wasn't in?"

"Left. There isn't anything else I can do, is there?"

"Right..." Jin coughs. "Do you want a beer? Something to drink?"

"Nah, I won't stay long, just wanted to see how you were doing and... Congratulate you. Single release huh. Pretty big stuff."

"Thanks."

"Everything you've ever wanted..."

The room falls silent and the air thickens with unspoken words and pent up emotions. Jin feels his resolve breaking under it. He used to be the stoic one. Used to. And somehow everything changed when he left.

Kazuya stands up suddenly, and nods curtly.

"I guess I'll be going now. Bye."

"Uh, bye."

He brushes past Jin without words and is 3 steps away from the door when Jin finally, finally breaks.

"Kamenashi, wait."

"Hmm?"

"Stop doing this to yourself."

He sees the younger man's shoulders tense.

"I don't know what you mean."

"I'm sure you know well," Jin lets out a long breath. "I can't apologize anymore than I already have. Move on."

"I have."

"No you haven't. You showing up here out of the middle of nowhere means you're not over it. Find someone else. I'm sorry--there, I apologized. Again."

"...Are you over it?"

"It's been years, Kamenashi."

"Are you?"

Jin keeps quiet, fists forming at his sides unconsciously.

"...Thanks for having me tonight. I'll see you arou--"

He never finishes that sentence. He is forced against the door, familiar lips on his own, familiar fingers in his hair, familiar scent in his nostrils. Everything he ever wanted, ever needed.

Jin.

The final, lethal dose of his addiction to everything that the older man was. Everything that was probably never his, and never will be.

Later that night, as he sneaks out of the apartment, leaving Jin dead asleep, Kazuya pens down the final paragraph of their story together in his head. He smiles as the mental image of the book burns, along with whatever is left of his lingering past.
