Kendra had similar experiences with Kaiser - crappy, but easy.

I'd go with the internal medicine person, all other things being equal. That way they have specialized knowledge in a pretty useful area.

Yeah, Kaiser can be kind of weird. The one in Woodland Hills that I went to as a kid is great, and their office in most of LA are good and have good doctors too. The Fontana one "near" Mudd sucked ass though.

I have a database provided by my insurance company that will allow me to search for doctors by location and gender, check their qualifications, and for users to enter reviews of particular doctors. Unfortunately not very many doctors had even 1 review in the database, but it's a new system.

My insurance company is owned by BCBS and has the same network, so such a database might be available to you soon if it isn't already.

Yeah, mine lets me search by location and specialty, and it tells me their med school and residency. Gender I can guess based on the name. Then I can google their name and find more info I guess.

The problem with checking their qualifications is that 95% of the doctors in Indy went to Indiana University med school, and did their residency at one of the big local hospitals, so I can't really compare them based on that. I can, however, eliminate people who have an overseas med school, so I guess that's something.
