Whoo. So I haven’t been updating a lot, I know, and last night I totally lied. I kind of have a tonne of stuff to update about, I was just really excited about the Pens win last night and really whooped by that point.

So I’ve pretty much not had a day to sit on my butt since...last Sunday? That was when my mom was supposed to go see Star Trek (again) with me and I was pretty bummed she bailed at the time, but in retrospect I’m really glad for it. Most of the time I’m so glad to be out and doing stuff, but after a while, you just need to sit down.

So here’s an actual update.

On Saturday morning, I started to feel really sick, and I spent from about 5 AM to 6 AM in the bathroom thinking I was gonna puke. Finally, deciding I was just nauseous, I called off work and did eventually get a couple hours of sleep. When I woke up I was feeling a smidge better, at least I had some energy, so I baked a couple cakes (was supposed to be one cake but people have been absconding with my cake pans and I only had two little cake tins left), got pretty, and went to a picnic at the urging of Chris, who said fresh air might make me feel a little better. I’m glad he did, because the picnic was wonderful and Chelly is the best at trying to eat watermelon. I think laughing made me feel a little better, as did the two hour drive Chris took me on afterward. We were supposed to get stuff done that day, but decided against it. XD Then the Pens lost miserably to the Wings, but oh well.

Sunday was the day my mom bailed, which is okay, and was probably okay then too, because to be honest, I still wasn’t feeling so hot. I’m pretty sure it was the flu, and I think I’m finally rid of it.

Monday I cleaned up the house and went to work, yay.

Tuesday I was supposed to go to lunch with Kurt but woke up tired and woozy again, so I bailed, and just went to work. But at least it was a nice day.

Wednesday I finally perked up, went out and got some coffee, finally deposited my paycheck, got soaked in the rain (I was pretty okay with it, though, it felt kinda good and actually made my hair look better), stopped at the library, and then yes, went to work.

Yesterday? Yesterday was fucking awesome guys. I couldn’t find anyone to go to the symphony with me so I got all fancied up (read: half the fun) and went by myself. I was confused at first as to where my seats were because I’d never had good seats at Heinz Hall before (and truthfully, I hadn’t been there in a while anyway). Oh my god you guys, amazing. I was left center about 30 rows back from the stage on the Orchestra floor. WONDERFUL seats. If I haven’t said it before, let me say it: Our symphony is fabulous. The PSO is the most respected orchestra in the United States, and (arguably) second only the the Vienna Philharmonic, though a lot of critics (mostly Japanese, I don’t know if that means anything or if that particular aesthetic just prefers our style more) say we are on an even footing with them. They did two Beethoven pieces and a Mozart piece, and though Mozart is my second-favorite composer, I have to said, I did enjoy the first Beethoven piece the most. It was just so great.

After that I moseyed on up to the library to return a bunch of books I knew I would never be in the mood to read and picked up a shitton of new French and Russian books (next on the list is Icelandic) and even two books on the English language. The first one is called Junk English, and it’s about all the useless and meaningless and nonsensical shit that has somehow worked its way into our language. Mostly, as you would expect, it’s marketing and business phrases gone wild that people now use to make them seem smarter (or, if you’re like me, use to make the word count bigger in an essay), but some of them were really interesting. The other one was called You Say To-ma-to and it’s about the 700 most mispronounced words in the English language but done in an incredibly dry, witty way. I’m really enjoying it, and I’m sure I’ll have a whole blog about these two books and things I’ve noticed once I finish them.

Then Chris came to pick me up and we decided to head up to Applebee’s since it was happy hour and we could get half-off appitizers, so we did. We also found that his Bacon Cheddar burger costs $9 and that he’s not allowed to get it anymore.

Then, obviously was the amazing Pens game, and then my playoff beard which I uploaded last night, and then I had some SUPER weird dreams and now it’s Scrubs and food time and at some point there needs to be laundry but I can do that today or tomorrow or Sunday. I might not even work tomorrow if there are no supervisors that can or want to come in. We shall see.

Awesome life is awesome.

Oh, finally, because I’ve never thought to ask before, I’ve been seeing if anyone I know through other mediums is on Pianofiles (free sheet music), Tumblr, Twiiter, LibraryThing, or Last.Fm, and if so, feel free to friend me. As always, I’m Paperclippe.

Love you all, I’m off to get noodles and Cheerios, or possible some eggs.
