It’s four AM, and what am I doing? Blogging and watching a show about goblin sharks. I’m gonna try and catch up on everything, here, but I don’t want to bore you by making this too long.
Well, Chicago was nice. Weather was extremely pleasant for the first three days (you know, until Chris arrived on Saturday morning, of course), and the shows went well, at least in my opinion. Second one was much better than the first. In addition, I was very happy to shell out $250 for my own hotel room, and I do mean that literally. I am so happy to not be a person who is loud at night and does not fight with their spouse in a fashion as to disrupt the lives of others. Also, eating at IHOP everyday was probably not so hot for my waistline but was incredibly delish (their new potato things are gooder than good) and the sushi restaurant Chris and I went to on our last full day there was well worth the $62 check. Mm, food.
And of course I saw Watchmen the day it came out. I think it’s brilliant. Much better than The Dark Knight. More relevant and poignant, and prettier too. But then again, I’ve yet to see an Alan Moore comic-turned-movie that wasn’t simply glorious (in the case of V for Vendetta, I actually thought the movie was betterthan the comic). If you haven’t seen it yet, please do. But don’t be stupid; don’t take your kids. I hate people who take their kids to comic book movies expecting some PG rollick through good and evil and get all offended because it was “too violent” or “too sexual” or “too offensive”. Comics are not for children. Get over it. I won’t say too terribly much else right now because I’ll either not do it justice or I’ll get off on some big theopsyhcophilosopical rant about each of the characters and that would probably only be fun for me.
Oh, hey, lookit that spider crab. That’s some good eats.
I love the science channel.
But the drive back was nice, if long, and the Dodge Caliber Chris had rented had a chilled glove compartment which was crazy awesome since I consume about a gallon of juice each day, and that’s not even touching on the coffee, soda, and dairy that I also enjoy imbibing in liquid form. We avoided the tolls on the way back which made our trip rather scenic and took us through central Chicago, Indianapolis (Inininapolis, because I’m tired), Columbus, Wheeling, and then finally home to Pittsburgh. The only downside is that I don’t think we’re gonna be able to visit Rose in NYC the weekend of the 21, as renting a car without a major credit card requires a $150 cash deposit and I don’t feel like blowing another $300 on the car even though I’ll get half of it back later.
Holy shit I have to pay my credit card bill.
Oh.
Hey.
I have more money than I thought.
Maybe I will go visit Rose, if Chris is up for another 10 hour drive.
Man.
I have got to get a job, and I have GOT to learn to drive.
So, I’ve been home for one full day now, but it feels so weird because not only did I lose an hour to DST, I lost one to the Central time zone, too, and that 22 hour day is messing me all up. There is a huge difference between waking up at noon and waking up at two. I’m not sure, but I think I wanna try and stay up all night tonight and get to bed early tomorrow...well, today. But my cat is laying on my blankie and looking at me like “Maaamaaaa, why aren’t we in beeeeeed,” and Chris has been passed out since just a little after 11.
One day, one day I’ll sleep at night and be awake during the day. I think.
Oh, well, at least I’ve been being productive. When I came home, I suddenly remembered how to play the piano and have been working on Regina Spektor’s “Samson”. I can play it just about perfectly, but I can’t sing it at the same time. My brain is not so good like that.
And other than my very last wisdom tooth coming in crooky, marking the first dental problem I’ve ever had, and apparently having a fever tonight, that’s been life. Well, that and Twitter.
