And no, you don't have to listen to it, as it's Norah Jones' "Don't Know Why" which I already posted once as a YouTube video (though admittedly the new sample is a LOT better, especially for being recorded with me sitting on the couch, laptop in my lap, and singing at the screen). I'm pretty excited about the prospects of this one, except this time it's been made clear I'm not the only person applying for the position, so I'm hoping my late-night silliness and the impressivitude of my demo will win me the day.
I also applied for a $15-an-hour admin assistant position that promised to be incredibly easy and flexible both, so that's exciting as well, and tomorrow I call Joseph Beth Booksellers to see if they've looked at my application yet. Thursday is my interview with Macy's (and, as I may have stated before, I've never not gotten a job after an interview; I'm a people-person), but that's really a last-resort job, since it's only seasonal, which means they'll pay me for shit, treat me like shit, and work me to hell. At least, that's my experience. If it was real, honest-to-goodness part-time, then it might be as high on the list as number two or three. But right now it's number only-if-I-have-to.
Sadly, I didn't make it to Joann's today to get the fabric for my costume, as Chris worked extra-late and we didn't want to miss the new House (which was worth it, way worth it) and tomorrow night he works at Pizza Hut, so I won't be getting my materials until Thursday. I really hope I can pull it together before Friday! I'll just have to slack on a few things here and there, like the hour or more of hooping I do while I'm watching multiple rerun episodes of NCIS (god, do I love me some Abby in the afternoon. "Where's my Caf-Pow?" I wonder the same thing, Abbs, I wonder the same thing).
Also, after multiple days of staying up late and waking up ALMOST early enough to get things done in the morning, I'm staying up all night, possibly knitting, working on vocals, or +gasp+ writing. I started a new story about a 1800s town (possible earlier, we'll see how rural I want to make this) who's women are all dying. That's right. 1800s sci-fi. You betcha.
Oh, and Margaf? That melatonin has really helped. I noticed it doesn't really make me sleepy or drowsy so much as just quell those rampaging final thoughts so I can fall asleep 20 minutes after I lie down, instead of two hours. I've been taking it off and on for the past week or so and it seems to be doing the trick. So thank you kindly, ma'am!
Alright, well, I suppose that's all for now. I'm just psyched up about the next couple of days what with all the applications and vocal samples floating around. Maybe I'll actually have a viable source of income for the Yule-tide.
But, hey, those scarves are still on the table! Order one. They make excellent gifts.
Which brings me to a PS - Alex, your scarf is about half done. If I don't finish it tomorrow, it should be done by Thursday. :)
The end.
