"Wank" as a term and it's broad usage on LJ.
If there's an argument, it's "wank." If someone said something stupid, it's "wank." If someone gets worked up over the precise shade of Vincent Valentine's hair, it's "wank." Whatever happened to "wank" meaning "masturbatory?" Masturbatory discussion is special and deserving of special recognition, by God. We have good, strong words for things that are just stupid or for people who bicker - words like "stupid" and "bickering."
I begin to question, how many LJ users have even seen something extremely masturbatory (outside of fanfic, anyway)? How many are able to immediately identify it? Particularly stupid is calling something "wank" when one person says something dumb and everyone gangs up on the aforementioned person. Where is the wank? Who is doing the stroking? If you're going to be calling it wank at all, aren't you obligated to side with the lone, stupid voice?
