I do love VII's ending, especially from a meta/fic/vid-inspiring perspective, but IX's has always been the most emotionally satisfying for me, which is why it wins out. I also like the individual elements - the play on Garnet's birthday that brings us back to the beginning, the way Zidane appears on the stage, the fact that you can sneak in some extra dialogue, the timelapse that lets us see how everyone has been doing in the space between, the fact that Kuja gets a bit of redemption before he kicks it, Beatrix showing up in an FMV...
And Garnet/Zidane, of course. I got a little teary the first time I watched it, and it still always makes me smile.
Honourable Mentions: VII, X (bawww tidus), VI (Love the cast call at the end, plus talk about an awesome boss battle)
And speaking of endings, it's the last day of summer vacation. I should do something momentous. Or bake something momentous. Especially since Vdex is down and the Hoppips have evaded me yet again (curses!).
