Title: Turning Back Time
Rating: PG
Summary: Chaerin wants her own midnight kiss at New Years Eve. Jiyong turns back time for her.
Authors’ Note: Somewhat simple writing style for me. Came to me all of a sudden and didn’t want to draw it out for longer than necessary. Warning: Fluff ahead. This is my gift to the Skydragon Kingdom, since their OTP has yet to have had a fic written about this moment. :) I figured I might as well do it.

“And here’s to a great 2011!” All around the room, wine glasses were raised.
“Cheers!” And the wine was promptly downed. Chatter erupted from all corners.
Chaerin sipped her champagne and cringed at the taste of it. She never drank much usually, or if she did, it would be a fruity daiquiri or something similar. It was New Years’ Eve though (or was it the New Years’ Day now?) so she made an exception. Immediately following MBC’s Gayo Daejun, the YG artists and staff had all gathered up back in the office for champagne in celebration of a successful year. Normally she would be socializing with the staff - this was YG Family after all - but tonight, she just sat in a table near the wall, somewhat isolated but still within view, observing.
She watched Minji sipping her apple juice next to their trainer Hwang, who ruffled said girl’s hair out of pride. She could see Bom and Dara teasing their choreographer Lee Jae Wook. Teddy and Kush were with their respective girlfriends, talking to the president. Everyone was mingling, laughing, generally enjoying the night. She sighed to herself.
“What’s with the sighing?” She nearly fell out of her chair in shock at the sudden interruption of her peace. Hands reached out to steady her. She looked up.
“Oppa, can you not freak me out like that?”
“Can’t help it if you’re not paying attention,” Jiyong said, shrugging. Chaerin let out a puff of air and fixed her bangs. She glared at his shit-eating grin and tugged at the side of his cap. Neither of them had yet to change out of their stage costumes, as they had been rushed back to the office immediately after the festival.
“So what’s with the sighing?” he repeated.
“Nothing,” she replied, turning to watch the rest of the staff once again. “Just happy.”
“Liar,” he declared. “What are you really thinking about?”
She placed her elbow on the table and leaned against her hand, sighing. He glanced at her once before mirroring her actions. She pouted. He pouted back at her. She raised an eyebrow. He raised his.
“You know,” she said abruptly, “how they say the people you’re with at midnight will be with you for the rest of the year?”
“They say that?” he interrupted, incredulously. She gave him a look, before continuing.
“I’ve never had anyone like that at midnight. I always wonder about the people who do. Like Teddy-oppa. And Kush-oppa. They probably kissed their girlfriends at midnight. I just…” she looked down at her hand, “I just wonder what it’s like.”
“It’s not true, believe me,” he said, snorting. She gave him an exasperated look. “I’ve kissed girls at midnight and some of them definitely do not last the year.”
“Ugh, you know, I can’t with you sometimes,” she said, motioning to get up and move away.
“Wait!” he exclaimed. He tugged at her hand and pulled her back down to her seat. She gazed at him sullenly. “Ah! I know.” He fumbled with something on his wrist and laid it down on the table next to them.
“A watch,” Chaerin said blandly. “That’s nice, Jiyong, really…” She made another motion to leave but he tugged her back down insistently.
“Just. Wait.” He picked up the watch and fumbled with it for a moment before placing it back down again.
“Now look,” he said. “It is now a minute until midnight.” She opened her mouth to speak, but he placed his hand over it, effectively shushing her. Her eyes met his earnest gaze. “No, I’m not being stupid so don’t say anything. It is a minute until midnight. Find your prince charming or call your family or something. I can’t stand having you anything less than absolutely happy in the new year. I know I can’t do a lot of things, but just once, let me do this. Let me turn back time for you so you can be happy.” His hand fell to his side and he looked away. “Now go and do what you really wanted to do at midnight and I’m going to go take off this jacket. I’m dying of heat.” And with that, he rose and left.
For a moment, Chaerin had no words. He… turned back time for me. She picked up the watch and felt the weight of it in her hands. He really just turned back time for me. She passed a finger over the surface, noting the ticking of second hand. Her eyes widened when she realized she only had twenty seconds remaining until “midnight”. Without thinking, she rose and her feet began to move. Watch in hand, her mind was blank as her feet unconsciously took her to the coat room. She opened the door, vaguely noting that there was only one other figure in the room.
Jiyong looked up in surprise, his jacket in hand. “Oh, Chaerinnie, did you find your-“
She pressed her lips to his, silencing his next words. He was quick to respond, his jacket falling to the floor as his hands reached for her hips to draw her closer. Her hands slid up his chest, past his broad shoulders and eventually linking behind his neck. They broke apart briefly before he reclaimed her lips, parting them with a flick of his tongue. His fingers drew inside her shirt, searing the skin of her lower back with his caresses. They continued like this, pushing, pulling, until neither could tell where one ended and the other began. The necessity to breathe became a burden and they pulled apart. She rested her forehead against his shoulder, heart wildly beating and breathing irregular.
He pressed his lips against her ear, his breath causing her to shiver. “So this is what you wanted to do at midnight?” he murmured, lowering his head to her neck and dropping a kiss there as well. He lifted his head and pretended to think. "Hmm. I think I like it. You should do this more often. All year, even."
She raised her head and smiled at him. “If you had really turned back time, this is what I would have done.” She placed a tender kiss on his lips. “Happy new year, Jingyo-oppa.”
