Random Acts of Kindness
It's Tuesday, just another day, but a particularly frustrating day for me. Things with the house are getting complicated, and it's put me on an emotional roller coaster to say the least.
To make things worse I woke up super late this morning. Well, I should say I slept in way too much. I knew full well that I'd be running behind. So instead of doing anything semi cute with my hair I re-wet it and let it air dry. Blah. But keeping my job and getting paid is more important than feeling pretty.
Around noon I finally decided I should take the plunge and actually look at myself in the mirror. While I was in the ladies restroom tying my hair back, (attempting to make messy look cute)one of the ladies from another office in the building came strolling out from a stall. I've seen this lady a kabillion trillion times before and we usually just exchange smiles. Not today. Our encounter goes as follows:
stranger: Hi, how are you today?
me: (caught off guard) I'm doing ok. How are you?
stranger: I'm pretty good (pause) You always look so cute.
me: OOOH. (sincerely) Thank you.
stranger: You always have the cutest outfits.
me: Thanks.
stranger: Well hope you have a good day!
me: (baffled) You too!!
So crazy. Sometimes I do look cute, and I have been making a major attempt to accessorize more, but ALWAYS is a total stretch, especially seeing as how I haven't purchased any new work clothes in what seems like forever. This lady is totally put together too. She's petite and has the best professional modern outfits. I'd trade closets with her any day-----well if I was a size 5.
She made my day. What a sweetheart :)
