First and foremost, I wanted to be a good mother. From the time I decided that I was going to keep Hannah come hell or high water, I knew that, when I died, I wanted her to be able to say that she had a good mother and a good life. I am a good Mom and she's got a good life. All three of them do. After I accomplished my goal of becoming a mother, it just fit for me that doing something in psychology was my niche, and I've been right about that so far. I love doing this and couldn't imagine being in another field of work/study.
All parents want what's best for their children, I believe. I know I do. I know I also want my children to be doing something that they love and that makes them happy. To me, if they have a passion for what they're doing, then that means (to me at least) that they have chosen the right career path, no matter if they want to be doctors or circus clowns! Not everyone is meant to be rich, or even excessively financially stable, so wanting your child to have a job just because it pays well (and that seems like what they want), is a flimsy motivation...at best.
