The kinds of secrets that lead to people believing a lie and being hurt generally should not be kept. An extreme example might be accidentally killing someone's cat and hiding the body, followed by helping the owner of the "missing" cat pass out flyers with the cat's description and a number to call in case the cat is found.
Point being: If keeping a secret is causing a lot of practical trouble and is making you unable to live your life without decieving someone or a group of people every day, it might be best to not hide the secret. If keeping it only prevents you from having an interesting piece of gossip to hand out and will cause unnecessary (and/or intense) pain, there's no justification in repeating the secret.
Apologies for any incoherency, as last night and today have been somewhat strange and sleepless.
