everything we are now is everything we can't let go

well i'm sitting at work finishing up a feature that's running tomorrow. this article i think has been the most difficult for me thus far. because so many different people told me their stories in detail and controlling all those voices, while still trying to maintain a backbone within the story was very difficult. but now i think i got it. i just needed to build everyone's points off of everyone else's and i think it actually makes for an interesting story.
so i'm getting off early today because i'm picking up julie from the airport. her flight gets in at 4ish so i think i'm gonna leave around 3:30. i'm excited for her visit. we might be going to the beach for saturday and sunday! although it looks like isolated t-storms all weekend according to weather.com. so the beach might not be the best move. eh, we'll see. other than that, i'm not exactly sure what we'd do. it's tough because all my friends and i just go to bars all the time. well mostly all the time and that isn't what julie does. but we'll see if we can compromise.
i think i'm still going to freelance for the daily record during the school year. well i'd actually freelance for the daily record's special publications, which are supplements in the paper that come out every once and a while. they deal with specific topics like technology or real estate or whatever. i'd get $7/inch. which, for like a 500-word story, would be about $87 i think. if i did my math right, which i most likely didn't. but yeah an extra ninety bucks here and there definitely would not hurt. slash adding to my clips and resume. and if i continue it through the year, i can use my clips for 320. which would be sweet.
it's cool when i see people out, tell them what i do, and they actually know what it is and think it's cool. like the lawyer i met at brewer's art. he was like ohh the daily record?? that's awesome, what's your next article about? and i told him and he understood what i was talking about! because most people, including me before this internship, had no idea about law or anything. and when mike figura said that he got the paper and wished he knew i worked there earlier in the summer so he could follow my stuff. it's just neat i think.
last night was kind of funny. sarah and i went to the kent just to have dinner and a couple drinks. but, not so surprisingly, it turned into more drinks and making people join us and shots and baseball game anger and a pretty good time. and $20 for dinner and a night's worth of drinking is not a bad tab if you ask me. sarah and i were talking about all the colleges we're gonna visit this year. we want to definitely go to salisbury while it's still warm. i would like to see joey at elon before i die. apparently west va is just insanely fun so that would be cool. and there's probably others. oh maybe temple cuz maks yells.
so yeah i'm going to continue putting the finishing touches on this feature, then lunch, then julie. should be an aight day.
