a/n: i'm in a slump. so i needed to write to make me write. makes sense? nope, doesn't to me either.

01. hyukjae/donghae

Hyukjae feels that headphones are like a door, a door that shuts other out. Headphones signify loneliness.

Hyukjae watches Donghae staring out of the window at the passing scenery, bobbing his head slightly to the music, music that only one person can hear. Hyukjae wonders what Donghae is listening to, what's going through Donghae's mind. Hyukjae says something about the weather, about their schedules, asking when Donghae will go back to China, when Donghae will leave him. Donghae doesn't answer, just continues staring out of the window. Hyukjae doesn't know whether Donghae can't hear him, of if Donghae is deliberately ignoring him, and he doesn't want to find out.

Fishing out headphones of his own, he shuts the world out and closes his eyes.

now this. is something that i want to write into a fullbown fic but somehow the idea never blossomed so mayb one day i'll come back to this.

Hyukjae widens his eyes as it hits him, so obvious but never noticed till now. It explains the beauty, explains the glow Donghae has, explains the way Donghae's presence strikes him in the heart and warms him all over. And it all makes sense. "You're not human," he says it in hushed tones because it's such an absurd idea it can't possible be true-

"I'm not human," Donghae confirms with a nod of the head, a little relieved that finally, he's been found out and also annoyed that it took so long.

Hyukjae feels the grooves of the table digging into his back as he presses himself against it to get farther away from Donghae but pain doesn't register. "What are you?" His voice is barely above a whisper.

"We feed on love," Donghae says simply, eyeing the boy. "What you call aliens, we need love to survive."

"Uh huh." Hyukjae has an idea where this is heading but he wants to ask, just to make sure. Because it's all a joke right?

"And you love me."

"I don't," Hyukjae says loudly and then falters, suddenly unsure and afraid. His fingers curl around the edge on the table, as if gripping something would help him make sense of the situation. He asks helplessly, "Do I?"

Donghae's gaze is intense, fixing straight on Hyukjae's face. "Everyday. One kiss. For me to survive." Upon seeing Hyukjae's terrified face, his face softens and he adds, "Please."

"What are you talking about?" Hyukjae is terrified.

And then Donghae is there, right in his face. Breath warm and moist against his skin. "Let me live with you. Save me."

03. hyukjae/donghae

Hyukjae's life seems like a movie, with his fame and the flashing lights and adoring girls. He likes to pretend it’s all a movie and he can be brave and keep a smile on his face even though he's hurting because it's a movie and movies end in bliss.

He's just an actor in a movie with an unfinished script. Hyukjae helps the writer to choose the development of the script. Say yes to joining the new subgroup even if it meant separating him from Donghae, the one he loved most? The writer can't decide- yes, for the sake of a more interesting plot or no, because it’s a cruel move to rip two lovers apart.

Hyukjae decides for the writer, choosing yes because that’s what's expected for his character. The audience -the hundreds of thousands of ELFs out there, the scariest critics of them all- adores it and Hyukjae is glad he chose the right move. Even if it meant his heart aches so much he feels like exploding.

The director, Mr. SMLee is pleased and he expects more from the movie. More excitement, more drama, more bang!

Donghae, along with half of the actors in the movie titled Superjunior, are sent to China, a mystical place filled with dragons and wonder. It all translates into more cash, more attention, more fame. All of Hyukjae's time is eaten up by his most challenging role yet. His co-actors are tired too. They complain and they cry but always discreetly so that the audience will never catch on. The audience must never be disappointed.

No matter how much he feels like cursing and sulking, the show must go on.

04. tablo/hyukjae

Hyukjae's life is technicolor. Tablo's life is shaded grey.

Tablo is awkward in terms of looks. Too short, too thin, too sullen, too weird. Hyukjae is awkward in terms of actions. Too shy. Too clumsy. Always falling over things and at a lost of words.

Even after being together for a while Tablo and Hyukjae still fumble with words. Conversations are stiff and weirdly formal. It’s painful for the rest of the world to see. Sometimes Donghae wants to shake some sense into them and feed them sentences.

But somehow it works.

and this, idk, it came to me and stuck and here it is.

"Tablo hyun- sunbaenim! I love your new album," Hyukjae gushed. "

"Er okay. I like your..." Tablo searched for a compliment to return. What was he supposed to say, I like Miracle, which paraded your group's lack of singing skills and was so gay I almost laughed out loud or I like Pajama party, where you dress up in outfits no one above 10 would be caught dead in and oh, the backpack that made you look like the village idiot was a nice touch? "Shirt," he finished lamely.

"Thanks," Hyukjae beamed and pulled at his shirt. "It's a gift from Donghae."

Apparently it was good enough for him. Tablo had to admit, if the shirt wasn't so pink, he would actually wear it.
