"At least my team's still in town. Make it out to LA often, Stango?"

Oh, California is a sore spot by the way, that being the manhunt and the ill-advised drinking binge that landed him here.

It'll be a couple minutes before there's an answer, while Benny circles his room and silently counts to ten.

"...Nothin'. You didn't do nothin'. Just I was in California when I landed my ass here. You didn't know."

And now he's looking guiltily at the yarn-covered map on his wall.

"You told me. I forgot."

All right, he won't push it. But he still wants to make this right. There's a silence, then he begins again, a little awkwardly:

"...Did you catch games often, back home?"

"Now and then. Watch 'em on the TV when I can't. You?"

"When I can. I usually end up listening on the radio."

"Man, thank god for car radios! Dunno what I'd have done when I was on the beat durin' the season."
