havent got the mood or time to drop in a real good entry lately. mmm maybe since i got time off from army after so long and also maybe cause i cant find sleep either, i might as well give it a go here till i find myself really sleepy. well thailand was great in a sense of a break from hendon but other than that it was really boring, to the extent that we'd lie in bed all day and talk about how we missed home. i really did miss home and i really liked it that i do cause it made me treasure what i have. ive been messing around with me room ever since i step foot into it on sunday morning, and im not even done with it even now. the weather was hot in thailand, to be exact, i was in kanchanaburi, north of thailand, based in a camp call sai yok camp. the first day there, i remember looking to the skies and not see a single cloud, the temperature got to as high as 46 degrees! it was quite horrible getting hot wind from the fan in the barracks, hah. even at night sometimes. dont think id talk about training there as theres really nothing to talk about other than that 'incident' that happened on the last mission...and the explosive diarrhoea everyone had during the r&r. overall i thought thailands a pretty pleasant place to go, much similar to malaysia. lots of cultivation everywhere. the people are really friendly, the children never fail to wave hello everytime we pass by them. i remember giving a kid my choc biscuits and he 'wai-ed' and said 'khon khun krap' (thank you) and he almost immediately gobbled down the whole pack, really cute. oh. and during mission phase i was attached to a retired major, a really shithead (i can write a whole entry just about him), a medic, a rta driver and a liason officer. so 3 singaporeans and 2 thais assigned together with a rover for a week, both barrrrely able to speak the others language! imagining me calling the liason officer on the phone to get him to gather him and the driver at block 5 at 2pm. super funny. but hey, i did manage to learn some decent basic thai words, i think i can count till...9999? let me try. 'kao pan kao loy kao sib kao'. correct? =) learning some thai really came in handy during the r&r, especially at the floating market, i bargained for 2 hats and managed to cut 500 baht off from the original price! haha i dont think its a big deal anyway cause everyone does bargain there. i thought the cobra show we went to was kinda neat, seeing the 'snakeman' catch a snake with his teeth really was a eye opener. guess thats about it for thailand. wait. and do you know in thailand, the calender year is actually 2549! weird eh. i didnt take any pictures there though, probably cause ive yet to get a proper digi camera (soon i suppose). oh but i did help shoot some cool shots for some guys, hope they'd send em to me. mmm...oh. i also did turn 22 while in thailand. and every fathers son knows what will happen to you if you celebrate your birthday in camp. lol. you'd get raped off course! hahahaha. but guess what. i actually had a rather peaceful one! i didnt get touched, no nasty bruises nothing. although they had plans to pour pails and pails of water on me while i was sleeping. hahaha! heng ah. in fact i almost teared when they surprised me with a swensen style earthquake after dinner. i got teased so much for blushing so hard. but im really grateful to those guys, they just make the 2 years in camp easier to go through sometimes. anyway so whats it like being 22? (i still remember flushing toilets on my 21st) i think growing towards being 22, i did experienced alot, everything physically, mentally and even emotionally. and i sure did grow from it all. i just hope id be stronger. especially emotionally :/ i hope it doesnt rain tommorrow.
