A dense and syrupy caramel colored bookstore cafe. Minds consorting with the ages, commiserating the ironies and concerns of daily life. (And over the din) the tender pink vision of a babe. The squeak-squok-squeak-squok of her lilac sandals as she navigates her powder blue ballon through the dense brush of flipflops and granite colored tabletops.

Sometimes kids just crack me up or sober me up--both equally essential. Like today while writing self-importantly and gravely at barnes and nobles. The noise of squeaky kid boots broke me out the heavy fog and I was able to laugh for a moment remembering my own squeaky yellow rain boots that I'd wear either with a diaper or nothing on.

Have you ever been to the beach and watched the babies play? It always makes me smile to see a baby running around with no clothes on. What's funny and totally refreshing is that this kid is totally free of inhibition and confident with his/her body. They will run, bend over to pick up a seashell,
put their bum to the sand, and approach strangers to see what all the fuss is really about...! To be that completely free again...is it possible? Without getting arrested? Maybe it is just a state of mind to be captured once again. Maybe that's what life is really about.
