i rang the gong last sunday at byodo-in temple, praying with my dollar donation that buddha would grant me everlasting peace and harmony. it was a homecoming experience as i was transported to a place so familiar to me. every fish in the koi pond had a name and every step trembled from the last one taken. the lighter didn't start so i couldn't burn my incense and i tripped on my way out with the geese chuckling in the background, but my path was burned that day and all that i know without being taught was affirmed.
