Hey, totheleft and twentysixpoint2, I thought you might get a kick out of something I heard on a local radio news spot the other day: "Scientific studies have shown that running a marathon if you're not in shape could be bad for you. You could get hurt."

I started to laugh so hard in the car that Bug was worried. Seriously, though: this is news?

Is it POSSIBLE to run a marathon if you're not in shape? Because I'm pretty sure that I would drop dead on mile two.

I imagine that somebody could pull it off. There are probably people who naturally excel at running, but they'd probably pay for it the day after.

I just can't comprehend that. I'm still reasonably active but I'm worried about how the SF marathon will go in July. I can't imagine tackling it as a normally sedentary person and thinking it wouldn't end badly.
