"The Stuff I Find At Work On YOU TUBE" Dept.:
Billy Van and "The Home Team" run through a rather difficult charade in their customary manner (mind-breakingly-fast, but never faked) on the classic Canadian game show PARTY GAME (circa 1975). Fellow Canucks will notice Dave Broadfoot of the original Royal Canadian Air Farce troupe on the couch.
I had the indescribable
pleasure of meeting Dinah Christie and Cap'n Jack Duffy at the original Frightenstein Fest a year ago last May. These people had a seminal influence on the way my sense of humor develloped.
I envy all of you American and British friends of mine the pleasure of seeing these folks in action for the first time. Again, if any of you haven't seen Billy in his ground-breaking Canadian Monster-pschedelic-edutaining-vaudeville-blackout-Laugh-In-styled-kid's show
THE HILLARIOUS HOUSE OF FRIGHTENSTEIN, please click to follow the link. Really as good as it gets, folks.
As often as Canadians, morseso even than Americans or others, sometimes like to rib us for what they perceive as the lack of an indiginous Canadian culture they often miss the fact that this stuff (like MR DRESSUP or POLKA DOT DOOR, or DEGRASSI ) is about as Canadian as it gets and is usually, universally, loved hereabouts.
Something tells me
hellb might actually come out of hiding for this.
Also: I went to a MARVELLOUS PARTY this weekend - photos of PapaJoe in a festive mood/mode to follow...
