...I think I might still be able to experience Die Frau ohne Schatten at Lyric Opera Chicago for under $100 and in one day. How? There is a (final) performance on Thu Dec 20th at 6:30pm. Megabus runs an inbound bus that leaves here at 8:30am and arrives in Chi-town about 2:00pm. The opera runs just under four hours, getting me out of the Civic Opera at about 10:30. Then, I'd hit the outbound megabus which leaves at 11:55pm. I'd get home around 5am.
Megabus roundtrip tickets - $55
Nosebleed opera ticket - $31
Experiencing Strauss/Voigt/Brewer - Priceless!
Who's with me?!?
Of course, you are free to offer your insights as to whether or not I've completely lost it. :)
TWO DAYS LATER EDIT: I got the bus tickets & opera ticket. I'm going! I'll be dreadfully tired the next day, but I'm going!
