Porgy opens tonight. If you've read the Post or the RFT in the past few days, you'll notice the publicity. I think it will be a good production, in spite of all the bullshit the principals, ensemble, stage manager, assistant stage manager, conductor and costume designer have endured. Use process of elimination, and you'll figure out the source of said bullshit. Want more details? E-mail me or call me and we'll dish the dirt...sorry, blog readers, but I am not about to waste time blogging all the gossipy details. I'm sure you'll understand.
I've been having fun with my iPod. I've not purchased much music for it because with all the vinyl records I own (and must digitize), it's silly and impractical to go on a bender at iTunes...though the temptation is great. Instead, I've started to digitize my vinyl collection. So far, I've digitized Anatevka (the german "fiddler on the roof") and The Anna Russell Album? for listening in my iPod. My computer's new sound card has software especially for cleaning up the defects and kinks of audio from old, scratchy LPs. It has come in handy with a scratchy old recording of Suor Angelica with Victoria de los Angeles, which I'm currently recording. Lots of fun. My biggest project ahead of me: the full Karajan Ring. Wish me luck...and lots of free time!
Later folks.
