It is customary in all kinds of theatre for cast and crew members to give notes of thanks, praise and encouragement to those they've worked with in a production on performance nights. I thought I'd share one I received during opening weekend of Gianni Schicchi:
Dear Philip ,
I wanted to let you know what an honor it has been to work with you in Gianni Schicchi . I have to say that your contribution in the role of Guccio has been one of the highlights of this production. Your verve, dedication, and professionalism have been an inspiration to us all and it is for these unique qualities that I wanted to single you out. I wouldn't say this to just anyone, but you are definitely my most favorite singer in the show. In particular that one moment in the show (you know the one I mean) is one I will cherish in my heart forever. Really, working with you, Philip , will remain in my memory as one of the singular and unrepeatable events in my career. Best wishes for a stellar opening here at Union Avenue and all the best in the future. You're the best!!
Toi toi toi,
Shawnette
I was so touched to receive such a sweet, sincere note from a talented , gracious colleague!
