Why am I salivating, you ask? Dreamgirls, that's why!

It seems that almost every holiday season of the past 4 or 5 years has heralded a new movie musical.

In 2002 it was Chicago.

In 2003... uh.... well there weren't any this holiday.

In 2004 it was Phantom of the Opera.

In 2005 it was a double whammy: RENT (at thanksgiving) and The Producers (at christmas).

And this year...it's Dreamgirls.  You better believe I'm salivating once again.  I have waited patiently since it opened here on Christmas Day, and tomorrow, I shall see a matinee screening with a couple friends.

Buzz has it that Jennifer Hudson's walking away with an Oscar... ...and I can say that even though I've not seen her performance yet, I believe the buzz and I'm rooting for her all the way.  It's just a feeling I have... why?  I had a dream last night wherein I was at the OSCARS and my friend Elise was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for a remake of Taxi Driver.  (I guess she played the Jodie Foster role?)  Sitting next to her in the audience, I kept saying "I'm rooting for you!  I'm rooting for you!"  And when it came time to announce the winner for best sup. actress, Elise won it.

My Dream = A Guaranteed Win for Jennifer Hudson.

There's absolutely no logic in what I've just said...but just go with me... please?

It seems that there's an influx of people singing or lip-synching "And I Am Telling You" then posting it on YouTube.  Here's the scariest example:

Because I am merciful, I have provided some "brain bleach": a video of the original cast of Dreamgirls performing on the '82 TONYs.
