Conservation of (Cat) Matter

A little over a month ago, I thought Munin seemed to be losing weight. I took her in to the vet, and, sure enough, she'd dropped from 15.5 pounds to 11 in, literally, about two weeks. It just wasn't the same when she walked across you.

Turns out that she has developed hyperthyroidism, which is common in older cats. It has no visible symptoms other than the cat just melting away. Happily, we caught it early and its very treatable; we have it under control with Tapizole and she'll probably go in for radioactive iodine treatment sometime soon.

The Tapizole has to be given twice a day and she's not fond of it - at this point, I have to chop it into small bits and mix it in with moist food. Twice a day. Which is fine, since giving her extra food to get her weight back up a bit is probably a good thing.

Problem is, she's not the only cat who now finds themselves being fed twice a day. Sure enough, Hugin is starting to balloon. Another couple weeks of this and I think we'll have swapped their weights.
